Product Description

Product Description

Notwithstanding his swift progression through the ranks, the author's contempt for those he considers unworthy of positions of authority remains undiminished. An inability to bear fools gladly, his outspoken manner and a reputation as a fighter of lost causes does little to endear him to his commanders.

His primary concerns are to enjoy life to the full and the well-being of the men in his charge. He claims a modicum of success on both fronts.

To the bewilderment of many and the utter disgust of others, the Army sees fit to commission the man so adept at swimming against the tide. It's said that, on moonless nights at the Royal Military Police Training Centre in Chichester, the ghostly sound of resentful retching into galvanized buckets may be heard to this day.

About the Author

A defrocked police constable, Wally Payne joined the Royal Military Police in 1964 and, following an often bumpy ride on the promotion roller coaster, rose to the dizzy heights of captain before retiring from the service in 1991.Now resident beneath a mango tree in the Philippines, he continues to undertake security work in various far flung outposts. Recent contracts have seen him plying his trade in Algeria, China, Hong Kong, Leicester, Mali, Mozambique and Thailand. For further information on Volume One, see www.diadembooks.com/payne.htmFor further information on Volume Two, see www.diadembooks.com/wally.htm

Having had the great pleasure and privilege of serving under Wally Payne, I had looked forward to this book with great excitement and was not disappointed. It certainly brought back some great (and hilarious) memories of the good old days. For those who might read it and think its exagerated, it ain't. This is the real Wally Payne, a soldier's soldier and a top bloke !

Simply fabulous !

Just the same as Volume one, couldnt put it down until I had read it. I just wish I had the chance to serve in one of his units!
