I bought the Minosharp to care for my Global knives as the whet stone was a pain to use especially with the very large knives and it has to be one of the best kitchen tools I have ever bought, its fantastic, it is so easy to use and is very very effective. Just fill with water and run the blades across the wheels, its effortless and produces a first class edge. If used gently and regularly it cares for your blades very well.

Only a couple of things to point out, you need to very gentle when sharpening serrated blades, you need to practice a bit to make sure that you are holding the knife correctly across the wheels even though there is a guide and when sharpening short knives you need to raise the cover and use the exposed wheels which needs to be done with great care to ensure the correct angle is acheived.

All in all an excellent item and well worth the money.

This type of sharpener is only suitable for knives with edges sharpened from both sides. It is NOT suitable for knives sharpened form only one side (Japanese Sushi Knives, Scissors, etc.).
Also comes in Red/Black.

I purchased this sharpener to take care of a professional knife set I have ordered. That particular knife set has not yet arrived, but I have sharpened my old mixed bag kitchen knives. Each of the various types and styles of knife quickly reached a very impressive edge.
This is a particularly useful sharpening system, as it has 3 wheels (Coarse, Medium, Fine) Simply running the knife over the wheels 10 - 20 times Is sufficient to give a superbly sharp edge.
You will only need to use the Coarse wheel if the knife is badly blunt, for the most part using the Medium, then Fine, will suffice.
There is a 2 wheel version available without the Coarse wheel, costing a little less. However, even if the Coarse wheel is only used occasionally, I feel that this undoubtedly makes its presence worthwhile.

The sharpener is of solid construction, with rubberised hand grip and feet, helping avoid slippage (a GOOD thing when sharpening knives).
Filling the reservoir with water both lubricates and cools the sharpening wheels when in use.
The guiding slots are wider than most knives, which can lead to the knives sticking if you do not line them up properly (This worsens if using too much pressure). If you simply allow the knife to gently find its own position as you draw it across, you should have no problems.
Avoid pressing too hard on the knife, this can both damage the sharpening wheels and make the knife stick.

Oh just perfect! Makes knives super sharp yet sooo easy to use! We gave our old 2 wheeled one to our family with blunt knives and then got this one. Both are great, the third wheel is for really blunt blades.

I had the two-wheel version of this for a few years and it was very good. However, I needed to replace the wheels, and that's when I noticed this one. I think I am slightly obsessive about the sharpness of my kitchen blades, mainly because blunt knives are far more dangerous to cook with than sharp ones, and I am very clumsy.

Put simply, it's brilliant. I am too unco-ordinated to use a traditional whetstone. This one however, is a doddle. It has very quickly restored my expensive Porsche knives to almost surgical sharpness, and done similar to my old, cheaper knives too. In short, highly recommended.

Tried steels and other sharpeners but never really got the results I wanted until now. This product really gets an edge on a blade! Ideal for my Tojiro knives. Only disadvantage is that this device sharpens both sides of the blade so it may not be suitable for some knives. Apart from this, highly recommended.

I bought this for my Global knives and it works brilliantly.
I only use the two finer grade wheels as my knives don't get that blunt.
The box recommends minimum 15 strokes for Global knives, but I think even fewer than that would be ok.
Highly recommended!

I bought this instead of buying a new set of kitchen knives, and I'm very happy with the result. Even with cheap-o supermarket bought knives, they're as good as new, if not better.

The only reason it's not five stars is that the last 5mm or so of the blade only gets sharpened on one side due to the angle of the wheels. Either that or I'm doing it wrong! Doesn't seem to impede their performance significantly though.

Excellent but, requires a little patience to learn how to use it correctly. My first attempts with it didn't produce good results and looking at the blade I discovered that one side was worn and the other barely at all. I realised that my unpracticed hand was tending to cause the blade to lean to one side. The trick is to make sure that the blade remains vertical in the slot and doesn't rock from side to side and I also discovered that a very gentle twist to the knife, anti-clockwise when looking from above, helped to keep the edges in constant contact with the stones. A blunt blade needs to be run through the coarser stones many times until you can see that some wear has been effected on both sides before attempting to put the final edge on with the fine stone. After a while I managed to produce an edge with which I was able to shave the back of my hand.
