Having recently become the happy owner of a steam generator iron Philips GC8560 Pressurised Steam Generator System Iron With 1.6 Litre Detachable Water Tank
I was thinking about upgrading my ironing board. I looked at several more expensive than this very reasonably and competitively priced one. The reviews of the others helped me to make up my mind to try the Minky San Diego.
This Minky San Diego board is larger than than the average board with a wide table to allow you to keep ironing over a larger area. It is stable yet helpfully light in weight; flexible in heights - you can choose what suits you best from sitting down to standing up, however tall or short you are.
It's is easy to store tidily, flat against a wall say, or in a cupboard. It does take up more space in the room when put up, as you would expect, so you would want to consider where you placed it when in use. The larger ironing area gave me the odd feeling that I was wearing my reading glasses when I started using it!
This all makes it a great improvement on the more slimline versions, particularly for dealing with big fitted sheets and duvet covers. You can keep ironing for longer without folding or turning. The steam passes through the mesh of the table as it should for successful steam pressing.
Personally I don't usually keep the tank on the end of the board as it is fine for me on the floor or on a little table beside, but that's up to you. The board feels quite comfortably safe with it on it.
A good buy for those wanting more room and a stable home for a steam generator iron. It would also be just as useful for a conventional steam iron. I know some people find ironing boring but it can be therapeutic, a pleasure even, especially with sensible equipment like this.
