Its that time again.. and even though mos has lost a lot of fans lately, we all still await TheAnnual. This year ministry decided to release a nice box set feature.. which brings up TheAnnual to a more elite and respected presentation compared for the past couple years. No DVD this time, but a 3rd disc. The Annual is what it is, a recap of the years hottest tunes, underground favorites, and upcoming dance floor smashes. TheAnnual can never please everyone, but this year mos did a good job in the amount of variety of music, i respect and enjoyed the track list a lot. I could only do without a few songs, especially "I Know You Want Me" This song is completely burned out in America.. but i guess its getting popular everywhere else. Overall TheAnnual is strong, commercial, but far from cheesy like other Annuals.
disc1 (Hits Mix): has a great flow of number 1's, with a nice transition of house, eurodance, experimental trance, electro, and underground house songs. Standout tracks: aNYway, Melo, Popiholla, Watch the sun come up, I Remember, I'm Not Alone, Take Me Away, In The Air, Kidsos.
disc2 (Funky House, Electro, Dance Mix): takes you into a more club feel, with dance-house songs seamless mixed in a very upbeat manner. This could be considered "the party going" disc of TheAnnual. Standouts are Pegasus (amazing!), Feelings Gone, Rocking At The Disco, She Came Along, Touch Me, Can't Get Over, Only Love.
disc3 (Drum n Bass, Experimental Electro Mix): bass, bass, and some more bass. This is a different approach from TheAnnual with a very unique third disc. If you are not into Drum N Bass then you won't enjoy this disc, but if you are open to a lot of styles of dance music you will like it. Standouts are Riverside, Bonkers, Warriors Dance, Trippin, Rock It
Overall all.. A good Annual... A good addition to the collection.
