Sublime contemporary music: relentless and delightful minimalism and post-minimalism 24 Nov. 2009
By Matteo - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
The expression "Minima Machta" (pron. Méeneema Màkta) comes from the latinization of a German philosophic term that could be translated as "little powers" or "small works". In its first discographic release, the "Piccola Accademia degli Specchi" (A. Amorino, A. Cavallari, D. Cedrone, C. Di Pietro, V. Marchitelli, G. Rosati) recorded eleven of these nugae, written by three different composers deeply linked with minimalism and postminimalism: Philip Glass, Wim Mertens and Matteo Sommacal, whose compositions are recorded here for the first time. "Minimamachta" was first presented in November 2004 on the occasion of the 5th International Festival of Contemporary Music "Luigi Nono" in Trieste (Italy).

Roman Holiday! 13 Jun. 2010
By Horatio Algiers - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This young and exuberant Italian ensemble is made up of some of the finest virtuosi on the scene in Rome today. They perform frequently throughout Italy and regularly premiere new works. They have a penchant towards American composers especially the music of Glass and Reich and, it shows in this masterful CD of minimalist and post-minimalist interpretations. I love this CD and was first introduced to their music on the WNYC radio show "New Sounds". Coincidentally, i also heard "Minimamachta" on the syndicated NPR show ECHOES several times and then had to get this CD!

A Great Addition to My Philip Glass Collection 2 Oct. 2012
By Kathleen Mattson - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
I bought this to add to my Philip Glass collection. I have only a smattering of familiarity with Wim Mertens, and had never heard of Matteo Sommacal. This is a completely delightful recording. In some recordings of Glass there is an almost mechanized coldness which is absent from this recording. Some of my favorite P. Glass pieces are rendered here in a very warm, masterful way. And this is a wonderful second-step into Wim Merten's work as well. I'm very glad to have added this recording to my collection. This is a great recording for long-time fans of this contemporary style, and it is also a perfect gift idea for those who are exploring contemporary classical and want a cozy introduction to Glass' and the others composers' works.
A great CD 30 Aug. 2014
By Diego Menegazzi - Published on Amazon.com

MinimaMachta had very good versions on classic minimal pieces of Philip Glass and Wim Mertens. But the great surprise of this CD are Matteo Sommacal's works. Very beautiful music. I recommend it!!!
