Product Description

Product Description

THE MINIMALISTS, Joshua Fields Millburn and Ryan Nicodemus, write essays about living a meaningful life with less stuff for their online audience of more than 100,000 monthly readers. They have been featured in the Wall Street Journal, NBC, FOX, NPR, CBC, Zen Habits, and numerous other outlets.

In 2011, Joshua and Ryan both left their six-figure corporate jobs at age 30 to pursue more meaningful lives. MINIMALISM: ESSENTIAL ESSAYS highlights essays from the first nine months of their journey into minimalism.

MINIMALISM: ESSENTIAL ESSAYS is an edited collection of 29 of The Minimalists’ favorite essays about living a more meaningful life with less stuff. This collection also contains a special forward by Joshua and Ryan, as well as two bonus essays you can’t find anywhere else: Dealing with Overwhelm and Focus On What’s Important.

The book is organized into seven interconnected themes: Living in the Moment, Emotional Health, Growth, Contribution, Taking Action, Passion & Mission, and Change & Experimentation.

The order of this collection is deliberate; it is meant to be read from beginning to end. Doing so will result in a better overall experience—a different experience from reading these essays all over the web—connecting various concepts that might otherwise seem unconnected.

5.0 out of 5 stars Minimalism Essential Essays - my review 30 April 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
A pleasant view of all things minimalist - an absolute tonic of a read.

To place yourself in these situations is all positive, absorb & act on, each piece of advice & train of thought is genuine, helpful & sincere - I get a lot from their website & mailouts, this being no exception. Whatever department of your life you feel is lacking, or in need of a spring clean or rethink, its all here - kick back, unwind, sit in silence & indulge yourself - who knows, it could change everything for you, I really believe that. Nice work lads :)

I have been reading the essays on the website and this structured collection does a great job of combining these essays into a guide for including minimalism into your life. It's full of useful information, insight, humour and personal examples from the authors. If you feel that life is full of excess and you want to start to say "no thanks" to the endless cycle of working longer, harder for a bigger "better" way of life-this is the place to start!

Not a long book, a minimalist one :) Seriously though, this is a great set of essays from some fascinating guys who have changed their lives completely and therefore speak from deep understanding. Well worth the small price tag.

I found this book useful but quite repetitive at times. I noted some valuable points and would recommend as a first read for budding minimalists.
