Rough House Vol 1

This is an excellent cd. I still have the original cassette tape that I purchase the day this recording was originally released in late 86 or 87 and I'm overjoyed to see it's in the cd format. This is the essence of true "Chicago underground House" of the 80's. Like hip hop, this is more music that was born in the ghetto's, during the "reaganomic and daddy bush" years. These are the artist that helped to lay the foundation of house, but didn't recieve a penny or recognition. This is when house was still very underground and very urban. So for those that really want to add to their knowledge of this music this is a must. It even has the voice of Will Downing (as lead singer for the group Wally Jump Jr)on the song "Gotta Have It" produced by Arthur Baker (Planet Rock fame along with Afika Bamba...) as Criminal Element Orchestra. Trust me when I tell you that the music genre didn't start with Modonna doing "Vogue", which is basically some stripped down "BS" of a singer robbing or to use 80's venacular "biting" from another culture to self promote and reinvent. Rough House is a classic recording!
