Having read a number of the reviews I was a little wary when ordering this product and on delivery I would have to agree with a few of the negative points:

The clips are roughly made requiring filing down prior to use,
The surface was delivered with a few minor scratches,
The power cable location and quality is nonsense (though not the terminal problem indicated in one star reviews),
The overall build appears fragile,
The unit took and age to be dispatched.

However:

The light quality is bright and even,
The drawing surface is good quality,
The unit is lightweight,
The cost is low for this type and size of light box,
The build quality is fine for domestic use (though I agree that it would not hold up to regular heavy use),
The power cable is a useful length,
The unit was well packaged and delivered in good time one shipped.

Excellent product. The A3 size is ideal for any size project. Its so slim and light weight its easy to store. Even light and doesn't get hot making it comfortable to work with for a longer period of time. Highly recommended.

I've been using this product for over 6 months so I can give a measured review of how this item performs over time. It was fine to start with, good even light etc. After a couple of months the light started going from very bright to less bright at random moments during working - annoying, but I tried to ignore it. This morning I have started working on it and the light is noticeably and consistently dimmer, I am finding working with it a struggle as I can't see what I'm looking at properly - infact I might find tracing items on a window brighter than using the lightpad at this point. As I have an illustration commission to complete and 77 drawing proofs to transfer to good quality paper I am not happy. It's okay-ish if it's something that isn't too detailed, but small details are now almost impossible to see as the lightpad isn't bright enough. It's clear from the design of this lightpad that there is no way to get inside it and fix the problem. I am not happy.

Great, bright lightpad, does what it is supposed to. It even came with 4 of those metal thingies you can see on the picture that hold the paper in place, though the surface of this lightpad is really not that slippery, so they are not a must-use. Lightpad is bright enough to shine your sketches through even multiple normal paper, so you don't even actually need to pay extra for "tracing pad" paper. I use mainly normal A3 copy paper.

Personal story about getting this item so that some people might evade mistake I did:

I was fool and did not check it's adapters compatibility with the ones in my country (Finland) and had to spend extra 10€ to buy universal adapter kit from local store to get this thing plugged in, but that is obviously my fault. Just saying, just reminding people to check technical specifics of what they are buying!

cheers!

This product is a very useful device with excellent strong and even lighting, enabling me to trace over my original pencil drawings (which I usually prepare on opaque layout paper), on to hot press watercolour paper usually weighing 300gms. This enables me to do away with the messy process of transferring my drawings, which required pencil shading on the back of the original work, and almost always left scuff marks on the watercolour paper. If the paper or card is any thicker I just need to darken the pencil lines a lot more and work in a darker space. This helps the lighting underneath to work more efficiently. I've used the light pad many, many times and love the slim design which sits beautifully and comfortably on my desk, and tucks away neatly in a drawer when not in use. The cheap and nasty clips are not an issue as I use better quality ones if required. Mostly I use masking tape which is not too sticky. This can be bought from any DIY or art materials shop. I think this product is great value for money and would recommend it to any serious artist.

I like this little box - I did a lot of research on and off the web for a light box and found many on the market however the price the style and the usability of this little box is great. I design and draw a lot and was using tracing paper found this reduced my time spent tracing. The price was very good for the quality of product - one thing to be mindful of is to be careful with the little metal clips that hold the paper, use some tissue paper under these to prevent scratching the surface of your light box. One message to the manufacturers maybe you could use plastic clips?

As with other reviews i read, before i ordered. Screen was scratched top left hand corner . Was surprised as it had lots of packaging. But scratches was an easy fix. that why not a 5 star rating. have use twice and think an led light is the way to go. Just make sure you pick right size for your work.
