5.0 out of 5 stars great tablet 29 July 2011
By berniel
I bought this tablet because I wanted something to use for internet and watching videos etc. without having to get the laptop out. Having been using it for a while now, I'm really pleased with the performance.

The screen is good, its pretty sensitive and you can easily scroll up and down and 'swipe' through pages or pictures etc. I like the Android OS, it's easy to use and it supports Flash which is good for watching videos.

I use it for travelling as it's handy for music, videos, sending the odd email and I've also used it as an ebook reader. The battery life is fine, I get 2 maybe 3 hours from it depending on what I'm doing.

Overall I'm really happy with it for what I paid, I didn't want to spend hundreds on an Ipad and this is obviously not quite an Ipad, but at about a sixth of the price, I think it's really good value and does exactly what I need it to.

5.0 out of 5 stars MiniGadget MG638 Android tablet 6 Sep 2011
I purchased the MiniGadget from JLR-Online last week. I wanted a cheap tablet type device as a Christmas present for my lad who is currently 9.The only problem is that it's so good he might not get it!
It arrived 2 days after placing the order by courier.
I have spent quite a bit of time looking for the right device. The combination of features and price made me decide to choose this one over a similar device that I think was made by Tabtech.
Straight out of the box it started up without any problems and it was seriously easy to connect to the internet.
It comes with a UK adaptor which is quite unusual it seems. Many have a Euro plug with an adaptor.
The screen is crisp and clear and is very responsive to finger pressure, it's easy to navigate around.
It feels well constructed, not at all cheap.
There are lots of apps pre-installed for you to tinker around with, a video player and music player,Youtube app and E reader to name a few of many.
The Angry Birds app seems to be a benchmark for the processor performance I noticed on other reviews of other devices, it plays this game perfectly.
I haven't as yet taken a look at the UK market for app downloads so can't comment on that but I believe it is the UK version you have access to.
It isn't a 300 quid tablet but I can't see why you would want one anyway, this does pretty much everything you could need from a portable device. It fits in your pocket, super portable and convenient.
I spent about 2.5 hours looking at the web last night, forgot to plug in the adaptor and it was still going strong when I finally came off so you can probably expect this much as a minimum from the battery.
Before I ordered this tablet I had one of similar cost from a well known supermarket.

5.0 out of 5 stars Smart as a carrot! 25 Nov 2011
By Alsy
Bought 2 of these for my 2 boys aged 7 and 5 for Christmas this year.
Set up was simple and fairly easy.
Web browsing is good and the screen is responsive.
Tried them out when I set them up and my wife and I were so impressed that we are thinking of getting at least another one! Yeah I know it's not an I-pad, but I can live with that!
I bought mine direct from Mini Gadget for £66.99 each. Had one issue which was one of the units not holding charge, but swift contact with Mini Gadget and unit replaced and working fine.
[...]

One point to note for those with kids into Moshi Monsters is that it doesn't seem to support this due to a lack of memory and possible processor issue. The flash player loads it up, but struggles with it. Not sure if a decent sized Micro SD card fitted would assist?

On the whole a fantastic, well built bit of gadgetry and well worth the money!

I would recommend this to friends and as of this moment one of my friends has also bought one.

4.0 out of 5 stars MiniGadget google Android Tablet PC 7 Jan 2012
By Hanna
Having recently received my minigadget i have been very impressed so far. Firstly the delivery was very speedy, I ordered the tablet late evening of the 2.1.12 (bank holiday), it was delivered by lunch time weds 4.1.11 - thanks JLR Online Ltd. Although i might add the postage is a bit pricey at £9.99 compared to other sellers but i guess worth it for the speedy service.

The main purpose for me buying a tablet was to be able to surf the internet without having to get my laptop out and to be able to use the kindle app. It has most certainly fulfilled both these purposes - i have no negative comments to make. I find the screen very sensitive to both touch and the stylus, some have commented that this is not the case and is poor compared to the ipad....having not ever used an ipad cannot comment however you are not going to get ipad quality for this price. I find it easier to use the stylus when typing more than the odd few words. The kindle app is very easy to use...i have successfully downloaded several books so far.

My only grumble would be that i have not yet been able to find a case that fits the tablet....something that i feel is essential to prevent the necessary knocks. However it does come with a protective screen cover already in situ.

4.0 out of 5 stars MiniGadget Android 2.2 Tablet PC 3 Nov 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase
Having been a Windows user for 20 years, from Win 3.1 to Win 7, I found using such a small PC a bit daunting at first. The biggest drawback is the tiny manual supplied with the tablet and written in Chinese style pidgin English. Needs a magnifying glass to read it.
The Android operating system takes a bit of getting used to, but is worth the effort. I find it useful now and can access emails, do some browsing, Facebook, LDS Scriptures which can be downloaded for about £10. Unfortunately it is not possible to download the free LDS scriptures form LDS.org because the tablet is not a device, which at first I thought it was. However, it will be handy to carry around and I would recommend paying the extra to purchase the keyboard with cover to go with it.
Given it 4 stars because of the poor instruction manual.
