Handy, and does the job 16 April 2009
I bought this tripod to use with my Pentaxt Optio A10 digital compact and it quite simply does the job it is intended for. I took it to Africa recently to enable me to take group photos, etc and was quite confident in setting it up on rocky outcrops and suchlike, even in windy situations. And it fits happily and conveniently in a bum bag (or whatever). I would have no hesitation in recommending it to friends etc.
I would concur with other reviewers who suggest it might not be robust enough for larger SLR-type cameras, but for your compacts, this works just fine.

I love this tripod - it fits in my pocket and has a decent grip on the swivelling head, allowing a wide range of angles without too much worry about it slipping - at least for a camera that isn't too heavy. It's particularly good on a table or desk, although it does need enough room for all 3 legs.

The legs really are very short so sometimes I resort to using a box for elevation. Note: Mine doesn't have the 2-part legs, so I cannot comment on them.

If you don't have a tripod at all, this is a good option to improve the quality of your images by keeping the camera steady - for example when taking a long exposure. In winter or low-lighting generally - when my camera automatically increases exposure time - I use the tripod and self-time to get crisp images.

This is a decent product for the price. The extendable legs are firm yet easy to extend, and the small size and weight means it's easy to pop this into a bag along with your camera. It's clearly not designed for large cameras, so only consider this if you plan to use it with a compact.

The tilting head locks into the camera securely and has a good range of movement, but it isn't particularly secure once it's locked into place - it's not difficult to knock it out of position accidentally (annoying when you're trying to shoot a stop-motion video!).

All in all, this is a decent buy if all you want is a cheap, highly-portable mini tripod for a compact camera. I wouldn't recommend it for larger cameras, and you should be aware that the locking mechanism isn't the best in the world.

Not Hama - cheap flimsy copy.

OK for a compact, not for an SLR
This would work fine for a compact or a small camcorder. It's too small for an SLR - it just topples over however I set the legs up.

Ok for the price.
Bought this for taking macro shots with my Nikon D5100. The product is very light (almost too light for a DSLR) but perfect for table-top/floor shots. Read more

Metal ball doesn't grip!
The tripod is study enough to support my Nikon P500 but the ball grip isn't precise enough or strong enough to hold the camera where I would like. Read more

Don't buy it!
The product arrived on time, but I was very disappointed by the quality. First of all it was described as a 'Hama' brand tripod, but it isn't at all. Read more

Not too sturdy
You can't expect miracles and this was never going to be a strong and sturdy product, but the leg falling off when I took it out the box was a bit of a shock....ah well...

CHEAP BUT CHEERFUL!
For the money, this is fine - it works, but just a word of warning - if your camera's tripod point is on the side it does tend to make the whole thing rather unstable. Read more
