5.0 out of 5 stars Mini DV cam - useful ! 14 July 2011
Verified Purchase
Excellent product, just spend some time getting to know it, use it, play with it.
I've used this as a helmet mounted camera, very good daylight resolution, clear audio.
This unit is much better than the Actioncam Action Video camera (which I've also got),
link http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001CQQ7J4/ref=oss_product

The Actioncam suffers from motion blur quite badly (at least my one does), however the Mini DV cam is much better, and a LOT smaller !

Make sure you read the instructions first, charge it properly, comes with many attachments and leads.
*** IMPORTANT *** There is also a file you need to upload in order to set the correct time/date.

Specs - Self contained Li-ion battery, mini usb jack for charging/data transfer, 3 buttons, for power, mode, rec/stop.
Comes with silicon sleeve, clip mount, strap mount, desk mount, lanyard, cd-rom, usb mains adapter and usb to mini usb lead. (phew)

** You WILL NEED - A Micro SD card, there is no internal memory on this unit. **

I've now bough a second one, which is exactly the same as my first one.
As for the memory card, I'd strongly suggest getting an 8Gb micro SD card at the same time as ordering, as this will give you the full 2 hours continuous shooting that the battery should give.

Bad points - The spring on the clip broke when I was wearing it, so it dropped on the floor, however, not broken, working perfectly !
Might suggest using the lanyard as a backup strap to avoid loosing it whilst clipped on to clothing !

Overall - Great product, amazing price (around £13), it's small enough to put anywhere, light enough to wear out and about, and cheap enough to use for trekking/biking/climbing so that if you dropped it, you wouldn't worry too much compared to the more expensive ones (by that I mean over £100 !)

5.0 out of 5 stars Really quite good 14 Aug 2011

Surprisingly good video quality - if you use a fast memory card and in good lighting conditions. Easy to use. Videos playback on my mac using vlc player. Ideal for installing in your car to gather evidence in case of accidents etc. Also good to put on your bike to record your journey. Great to record interviews etc. Very good value for money. Just slightly disappointed with the slow delivery.

5.0 out of 5 stars Small in size, small in price. 28 Jan 2013

I ordered 2 of these cameras at the beginning of January, as a sort of compromise between a 'big-name' action camera, and some of the other assorted tat I've seen floating around Amazon.

Having been an avid motorcyclist for a good few years now, and having had my fair share of close calls with idiotic drivers who don't look when they're pulling out of junctions, I wanted something to record my journeys. I bought these with the intentions of mounting one forward-facing on my helmet, and one on the rear of my motorcycle to 'cover all bases' as it were.

Now... I only received these cameras this morning, and as such, I haven't actually had a chance to road-test them properly. I charged them up this morning however, and gave them a whirl; Here are my first impressions.

Well, these things are certainly very, VERY small. About the size of your average USB thumb-drive.
The poorly-translated instructions had me in stitches for a good 10 minutes when I tried to read them, (operative word: 'tried') and as a result, I had to try and find a more inclusive and better written set of instructions online.
However, once I got my head around the ins-and-outs of getting these little gadgets working, I was really quite pleased at how good the video quality is.

These cameras record at 720x480 resolution, with 30fps. That's nothing impressive when you look at most modern DV cameras that record at 1080p HD. But, and if you're like me, you already knew that when you first considered/bought one of these cameras.

The little accessory pack that comes with the camera is pretty much as shown in the product pictures, albeit minus the AC adaptor which I, and many other people did not receive.

4.0 out of 5 stars What are you buying? 8 Feb 2011
I have bought two of these mini dv camera recorders from different vendors.

Both were advertised differently but were infact identical. They were as in the illustration here, with push button "mode" and "power on" buttons. That is as shown laying down, rather than standing with sliding "power" and "mode" buttons.

Which ever is being sold, they all have the same technical data and all need patience to operate successfully. The instructions, like the product, are accurate if you allow for misunderstandings with poor translating from an Asian language to English.

Take your time and, like the Rubric's cube, you will learn a lot and enjoy this little camera with its remarkable quality for size and price.

Don't go over 8Gb for the micro SD card, 4 Gb is ok but avoid shudder with a class 4 card. Buy a long USB Cable, to extend its use as a very flexible webcam.

It attaches to anything, big or small and £ for £, at this price, it is a gift!

Technophobes ... give it a miss and go to the shop with a wad of money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cheap imitation 13 Feb 2013
Verified Purchase
It took around four weeks to arrive from China. The picture quality is bad, with terrible motion blur. The battery only lasts 1 hour after a 12 hour charge. The sound activated option is not sensitive enough. It arrived without charger. All in all a very very bad buy. Not worth sending back to China. Avoid this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for the price, but you pays yer money....
Works fine for its size, but dosen't work well as an action/sports camera - for that you would need to spend a lot more.

This product is awful, the motion blur is dire to say the least even at walking pace. I bought this as a cheap alternative for use while paintballing. Read more
