Let me make one thing crystal clear - this is a very good book. In fact this is an excellent book. This is not a story of the mechanical evolution of the model. This is an incredibly researched and masterfully written sociological study of the second half of the XX century and its influences on the creation and development of the Mini. The text is always simple, knowledgeable and witty and the amount of information contained in this book is staggering.
But then you might ask why not give it five stars? There are two small problems with it. The book is very small (but thick). In fact it is almost pocket book sized, turning it into the perfect summer holiday book, but denying the possibility of using photos of a useful size. On top of this the book has very few pictures, almost all in black and white and of minute proportions, and let's face it, a book about cars without quality photos is like a garden without flowers
