Review

If you, like this reviewer think that Christmas is best celebrated with at least a few handmade decorations then this is going to appeal. Trim your tree, adorn your table and find some interesting ways of presenting small gifts with this useful little book. This is a fun way to use up oddments of yarn (mostly 4 ply) in an environmentally friendly way and get into the festive mood during those long, dark evenings. Every pattern is shown two ways, one in traditional Christmas colors of red, green and gold and the other in the more contemporary white, silver and shades of blue, mauve and pink. Knit a Christmas pudding bauble, top the tree with an angel or fairy, make a line of Nordic bunting, put tiny gifts in cones or stockings and (my own favorite) decorate your breakfast egg with a Christmas tree egg cozy. Patterns feature traditional (in UK and US) written instructions with notes on materials, measurements and needles together with a page-sized illustration. No piece uses any complex stitches and as they are quick to complete somebody fairly new to knitting would enjoy this book particularly.-Myshelf.com It's never too early to start planning for Christmas and with these fantastic new books from Search Press you can start small! Mini Christmas Knits and Mini Christmas Crochet each contain Twenty cute Christmas creations for crafters to make in preparation for the Christmas season. Ever considered knitting a Christmas pudding? Or Crocheting Rudolph? No? Well now you can! Customers can follow the books to the letter and make all of the projects included, or take advantage of the alternative suggestions and make creations of their own. Each project would be perfect as a gift for a little one, a table decoration or even to hang on your tree. These books are great for those looking for quick and easy designs, and priced at GBP4.99 can you afford not to?-Craft Business Dear Santa, please bring me every ornament ready-made from Sue Stratford;s 20 to Make: Mini Christmas Knits. I haven't been so very good, but there have been a few moments of exemplary behavior this past year - maybe even 20 - and I love the soft-as-snow mittens, the tiny stockings, the white mice, and oh! the own with the jaunty hat! Just bring all 20, okay, Santa? I'm setting out one of my Pink Satin cupcakes for you, which will go so nicely with the soft pastel ornaments and tiny sculptures Sue has so lovingly designed and knitted. Each pattern has different color ways, easy to follow instructions, and lovely photographs. So leave something nice for Sue in England, okay? Sincerely, De-Spool (Mini Christmas Knits and Mini Christmas Crochet): You'll love these collections to knit or crochet ready for the festive season. Each book contains 20 different projects with alternative colour schemes. Full knitting or crochet instructions are given. There are plenty of ideas for ways of displaying the finished items and these mini projects will appeal to anyone wanting to use up oddments of yarn.-Machine Knitting Monthly

Part of the Twenty to Make series, this little book contains ideas for the Christmas season. Of the twenty designs, 18 are knitted using 4 ply yarn. You only need small amounts so raid the bargain bins at your local yarn shop, or check out charity shops or swaps on forums. Most of the designs are very desirable and fun to make. They range from around 5-10cm (2-4 inch) tall so take little time to knit. There are the usual Christmas characters - snowmen, reindeer, angels in cute designs plus mittens and so on for the Christmas tree and Nordic style bunting for the mantelpiece. This review first appeared on Karen Platt's book review website.

Handy little book 17 Aug 2011
By Jenni K
Format:Paperback
This is a very handy little book to have, love all the little designs and is a real inspiration to make other pieces as gifts n stuff.
Its quite easy to read, and Im new to knitting, learning from books and the internet.
One thing I would add... I've found a much easier way of making this snowman on the front cover.
You can make him by circular knitting a tube and weave stitching either end and pulling tight to ruche it together. If you do the same with neck (getting proportions correct) you'll have the same thing.
No need to make the head and body seperately.
Still glad I bought it though!
