5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book!, 12 April 2006

This review is from: Minerals of Scotland (Paperback)
Books on the subject of the mineralogy of Scotland are few in number. Heddle's masterpiece is exceedingly scarce these days and commands a very high second hand price. There are other smaller books, but none on the scale of this newest addition to the subject. In addition to excellent mineral descriptions and photos, there are also some fascinating details of Scottish mineral collectors and collections - this aspect sets the book apart.

It isnt cheap, but it is worth every penny. Pick it up, graze through it, enjoy - it will leave you with 1) a sense of wonder and 2) a burning desire to go and start your own collection!

5.0 out of 5 stars A bargain at £8, 15 Nov 2011

This review is from: Minerals of Scotland (Paperback)
An excellent overview of Scottish minerals and the collectors who made the most important contributions to the development collecting in Scotland. Excellent photographs and a well balanced text make this a really good introduction to Scottish mineralurgy and an absolute bargain at the current price of £7.99.
A good present for any friend interested in geology.

5.0 out of 5 stars Minerals of Scotland, 18 July 2011
This review is from: Minerals of Scotland (Paperback)
Minerals of Scotland is an excellent reference book for understanding the geology of Scotland and its associated minerals. The book contains clear photographs of minerals found in Scotland and a chemical analysis of them. This book will certainly enhance your understanding of minerals and the process of their formation.
