This book covers many topics relevant to the serious student of psychology in a colourful and absorbing style. It is also of interest to those who are curious about the human condition: why do people obey unjust authority; is our personality dependant upon our childhood experiences, and what exactly is 'love'? Eysenck senior is a contributor to the current 'A' level Psychology syllabus, and is highly respected in his field. Buy this book and learn more about yourself and others around you!

disappointing 4 Feb 2010
Format:Paperback
This book has a double barrelled title : `Mind Watching' and `Why We Behave The Way We Do'. The majority of the book content covers research experiments by psychologists to understand human behaviour. The `Mind Watching' part of the title is certainly valid; the `Why We Behave The Way We Do' is a poor description of the majority of the book. Frankly : the conclusions section at the end of most of the chapters are feeble. Most of the experiments are fairly interesting; some are certainly amusing and some are controversial. For example: claiming that mental patients are better at diagnosing mental illness than doctors is pretty controversial. The sections of the book which deal with `child rearing' , `school education' , `crime and punishment' , `treatment of serious illness' , `political extremism' are outstanding with excellent conclusions. Anyone interested in human behaviour and psychology will find numerous interesting scraps of information in this book. The book is certainly written for the general public; this is not a technical book. The bulk of the book can best be described as mildly interesting with a small number of highlights. The book is well worth a read; just don't expect too much . According to the internet; this author is the top-man in psychology: frankly the book does not reflect his status.

call it a starter or an appetizer to ur "knowing your mind" 11 May 2003
By Sidharth. R - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This is my first book about psychology, i think many like me can share my views. Any person who has had ever wondered how others think will find this book telling them "you are not much different from others" or "people in general think the way u have always thought they will" or "shrinks ain't no big time guys!!". Book presents a lot of interesting situations or experiments which led to simple simple psychological findings. Authors dont bug you too much going deep into concepts, at the same time it grips a person who likes interesting details.

If you are the one who always wanted to know something of "psychology" then go ahead, this simple book will give u a good start(without boring u)!!
