Muffy is trying to tidy up litter in a park and to help her, you have to provide the correct answers to a series of simple sums. Another of Arthur's friends, Francine, invites you to wrap up boxes of sweets. The characters guide you slowly through all the activities. As well as opportunities to brush up on sums, there are also word games where children have to match letters to sounds. Aimed at 5-7 year olds, these games will certainly test young children who will learn within a friendly and supportive environment.
Arthur's Good Deeds Contest is a two CD-ROM set and features an activity centre where you can print out pictures and make music--a great way to encourage creativity in your child. One of the most imaginative elements of the activity centre is the storybook maker, where you are shown how to put together your own book. You select pictures and can type in your own text. The characters show you how to make the cover and then you can print it out. It's a good place for young budding authors to start to get the experience of publishing their own work. --Justin Hunt
