Neal Asher is one of the few SF authors that I rate. This was short but an enjoyable read as always.

I must admit to really liking this book. It has enough mystery and excitement to keep most people reading. A very different take on life after death and one that is both interesting and provocative.
This is definitely a new twist for Asher and one that personally I like, having read most of his earlier work. Well worth the read.

It's very much as it is described i.e. an early unpolished work. It's a slight story with several themes that Asher has used and expanded on in his later work. It's unusual to get an insight into the early days of an author's work so it Interesting to see the genesis of his ideas and writing style.

From the outset, I was hooked. I found the writing style exciting and the only issue I had was that it finished too soon. If a studio were to pick it up, it would make a fascinating film.

Interesting to read an early work. It shows how even then he enjoyed big picture. Style and story have improved with experience.

Not really what I expected of Asher. It is a good tale, but there are parts that seem to be a bit deep, and take some reading again and thinking about.
