Product Description

Being a teen is hard enough without anxiety getting in the way. You are changing more than ever before, not just physically, but mentally. And if you suffer from panic attacks, chronic worry, and feelings of isolation, it can be very difficult to meet your goals and succeed. The good news is that there are real, powerful ways that you can take control of your anxiety—and your life!
In Mindfulness for Teen Anxiety, psychologist and learning specialist Christopher Willard offers teens like you proven-effective, mindfulness-based practices to help you cope with your anxiety, identify common triggers (such as dating or school performance), learn valuable time-management skills, and feel more calm at home, at school, and with friends.
You’ll learn tips for dealing with specific situations that cause anxiety, such as public speaking, social anxiety, test anxiety, and more. You’ll also learn special breathing exercises to help calm you in moments of panic, and guided visualization exercises to help you stay cool and collected, even in the tensest situations.
If you are ready to move past your anxiety, panic, and worry and start living the life you were meant to live, this book will be your guide—every step of the way.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-read for anxious teens and those who know and love them 30 Aug 2014
By Tom Pedulla - Published on
If you work with teens, have a teen, or are a teen who struggles with anxiety, then you need this book! In a reassuring, accessible style, Dr. Willard helps the reader understand what anxiety is, where it comes from, and most important, what to do about it -- with a rich, varied collection of mindfulness exercises teens can use to reduce their anxiety during family arguments, while taking a test or giving a presentation at school, before going out on a date or using social media, and in dozens of other everyday situations. Drawing on his experience as both a psychologist and a practitioner of mindfulness meditation, Dr. Willard has created a powerful, practical resource not only for the millions of anxious teens out there, but also for the parents, therapists, counselors, and educators who care about them.

I highly, highly recommend this book to anyone who works with teens. Dr. Willard presents mindfulness in a way that is both accessible and practical, and I've found the exercises to be very helpful to my teen clients.

I love this book and more importantly, several teens (ages 16, 17 and 19) I know love and appreciate this book. It's never condescending, and beautifully combines humor and brevity in its style with excellent advice and strategies.
