If you want to get an introduction to mindfulness this is the book for you.
Most readers will come to this book because they are stressed, have chronic pain or just want to see life a bit more clearly. It simply and quickly introduces some exercises to help you become aware of what is going on at the moment not what you are worrying about happening tomorrow.
And I mean exercises that are as simple as breathing drinking a cup of coffee or brushing your teeth.
The book doesn't dwell on the philosophical basis of mindfulness, so its very practical.
Worth dipping into.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great book 15 Dec 2013
By eluned
Format:Paperback
Just want to say that this book is brilliant. I did find the style a bit chatty, but that didn't detract from the value of what it said. The exercises are great and I am happy to take time out of my hectic schedule (!) to give it a big fat five star rating.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very useful 19 Nov 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Easy to read - practical and realistic - an enjoyable read. Sometimes the commentary jars - but on the whole this all made sense - even if you have not read about mindfulness before!

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally 4 Nov 2013
Format:Paperback
...Finally a book about Mindfulness that I get! WOW this stuff is really good and it works.
The Mindfulness practices are practical, fun and can be done at (any!) times when you would never think it was possible to be mindful! A really engaging book, well worth a read. The introduction and first sections are great and they help to makes a really abstract concept relevant. I'm getting a lot of benefit from trying out the exercises. Definately recommend this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mindfulness applied to real life! 6 Dec 2013
Format:Paperback
This book "Mindfulness for busy people" really understand how real life works and that people most often just do not have the time to sit down and meditate for hours. Why I find it so helpful is that the techniques Dr Michael Sinclair and Josie Seydel outline can really be applied to any situation. Since I started reading this book I have become more mindful on the tube, using the berating technique. I also really enjoy my coffee, I am more aware of my posture and more accepting towards my own body, I start to accept that I am not perfect and that is OK. It really helped me to relax my mind and create a stable self that can not only survive but even really enjoy my own hectic life and busy days! I would recommend it to everyone!

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly practical 16 Jan 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Mindfulness explained in modern terms and full of practical applications that can be applied in every day situations and circumstances. Buy it if you are action oriented and you are more interested in how to use mindfulness rather than understanding deeply the philosophy behind it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Accessible and transformative 11 Nov 2013
Format:Paperback
This book entertains and engages the busy reader whilst unpicking and explaining practical tips in the art of living well. It is a truism that the present moment is all we really have but translating this into realistic and achievable strategies for accepting life's challenges and dealing with them effectively is a tall order. This book delivers and makes for an uplifting and at times moving read. To be embraced personally and professionally.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very practical 20 Nov 2013
Format:Paperback
This book is great if you want to learn some very practical, down to earth techniques to help deal with stress. A lot of "self help" books can be a bit boring and jargony but this one is definitely up to snuff. It's modern, edgy and actually really interesting. As a psychologist I have recommended it to many clients I work with and I have also used it myself. I would definitely give it a chance if you're looking for something that super-useful and applicable to your daily life with all of its stress and strain.
