Not just another thinking tool, 2 May 2004
By A Customer
Mind maps - you may have already come across them, but this book is the most thorough explanation and demonstration of their uses I've read to date. It starts with an explanation of brain function, looking at scientific theory as well as examples of Great Brains in history. Then from a discussion on brainstorming it develops the idea of the Mind Map, and the principles that have proven to produce the most useful kinds of maps. From there it demonstrates the many uses for Mind Maps, from decision making, self-analysis, problem-solving, memory recall and organising ideas (your own and others') to creative thinking, teaching, meetings, presentations, diaries and management.
It is thorough, well-written, full of examples and gives you everything you need to fully exploit the amazing tool that is the Mind Map. I've discovered brain power I thought I'd lost years ago, and a new fun in study and simply using my brain.

Full colour illustrated edition is clearly full of ideas, 14 July 2004
This book is useful as an introduction to Mind Maps with a clear and highly visual layout. If you prefer diagram or picture information then this book is for you. Buzan has also included plenty of well selected examples to get you thinking creatively. The book has two sections, the first has details on Mind Mapping and simple rules that work. The second section is full of ideas on how to use Mind Maps. I have found Mind Maps to be very powerfull as a thinking tool. My only resevavtion is that Tony tries to sell this as the solution to end all problems. This it is not, however Mind Maps do provide excellent scope to further develope ideas.
Well done Tony & Barry.

This review is from: The Mind Map Book: Radiant Thinking - Major Evolution in Human Thought (Mind Set) (Paperback)
This is an extraordinary book! Five stars and plus! Tony Buzan even shows you from the start how to make the best your reading, in his Chapter on Note-taking.
The book is progressive yet stimulating. Starting from a simple brainstorming exercise, he shows you how to make this more complete by refining it into an either/or Mind mapping to tackle making choices, extending it to a more complex and more satisfying multiple categories mind mapping.
The beauty of the book lies in its common sense. Exploring this system, you'll find yourself saying 'Aha! This is how I can find how to...!'
