Biography

Skye, the sublime lead singer of Morcheeba, returns with a stunning solo album 'Back To Now'. Undoubtedly her most provocative release to date, we hear a much bolder, buoyant sound with sonic layering, driving beats and the quirky voices of old synthesisers that somehow give it a futuristic feel.

With Morcheeba, Skye sold over 6 million albums and after a 7 year break in 2003, ... Read more in Amazon's Skye Store

5.0 out of 5 stars is the limit 12 May 2006
Format:Audio CD
Bought the album from Holland as I could not wait for the UK release.

Awesome solo debut from the ex Morcheeba lead singer. Yes hints of Morcheeba but there is no getting away from that as she was the voice for so long but this album has more to it. From the opening track to the end it is total chill out. Lets hope she get the recognition she deserves. Listened to it three times now and changed my mind so many times as to my favoutie track. Seeing her live in Amsterdam next week and cannot wait.

Buy the album, book the concert and enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars BRILLIANT! A must-have CD. 22 July 2007
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Having been a Morcheeba fan for years, I could not wait for the release of this album. I agree with previous reviewers that Morcheeba's loss is definitely the world's gain. Skye has a voice like honeyed silk, and an awesome song-writing talent. I play this CD every single day, and never get tired of it. The messages in the songs are so poignant and relevant to real life situations. She sings them with her heart and soul. A BRILLIANT first solo album. I wait in great anticipation for her next release, and you can be sure I shall be one of the first to buy it!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars "It's painless, letting your love show" 2 Jun 2007
By Brida TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Format:Audio CD
Although I was not a fan of Morcheeba, a close friend recommended me this album and so I decided to give it a go. Having now had it for only a day, I am very glad I did listen.

Skye has a great voice; very soulful and one that has a great rannge. As a debut album, MIND HOW YOU GO is outstanding. There are not true fillers on this release - something that happens rarely in this day and age.

"Love Show" is a brilliant opening track. The lyrics are really clever, about looking to the future in love and life.

"Calling" is perhaps my favourite song on the album. The music and the lyrics are lovely - it reminds me of someone I am close to at the moment, although circumstance seems not on our side. If only they could hear this song too and decide to put the fear aside! The song is about being in love with someone who is scared of being hurt and vulnerable, and so they are resisiting their feelings. I'm sure many people can relate to that.

"All the Promises" is another great song. Quite sad, but it again rings very true. Skye has done another brilliant job at writing the lyrics. It is quite a bitter song, about a relationship having gone wrong and the sense of betrayal that often sits alongside this.

"Powerful" is just the right song to have after this rather sad, bitter edge. It is a more uplifting song, even though it also deals with the end of a relationship. Here, rather than stay in a relationship that isn't working, she sings about having the strength to let go. Shows you that there is life, and another love, after one affair has ended. A great song.

All in all, this is a brilliant release from Skye. I guess I am quite surprised that she hasn't had more attention, because of having been in Morcheeba. but, their lose is our gain. I hope she continues with her solo career. This woman has heaps of talent!

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW - Skye does it again 18 Aug 2006
Format:Audio CD
WOW - I just got the new Skye Album. I have been a Morcheeba fan for many years, but in seeing they dropped Skye much to my dismay, I waited eagerly for this release, and believe me folks you wont be disappointed. Once again she serenades us with her cool, calm, serene voice, such beauty! I havent bought the new morcheeba album yet, as in hearing a few tracks I was not convinced that their choice was a good one for the band. BUT one thing for sure, they did Skye a favour. This album is on par with the Big Calm, so if thats where she is starting from then I say ....Bring it ON... !!! And as I wipe my brow in relief that she is not lost to us. I bow in your direction Skye with thanks. BUY THIS ALBUM!!! COZ THIS LADY ROCKS.

5.0 out of 5 stars Skye High Debut 11 Mar 2008
Format:Audio CD
This is the debut album from Skye, formally of Morcheeba. You can definately hear the Morcheeba sound but there is much more, with the powerful, yet soothing, sound of Skye. Usually it can take a number of plays before you really appreciate music but with this album from play 1 it hits you. The only weakish track is the last track, Jamaica Days, which is a short (just over 2 mins) , unaccompanied track and while musically this track is well sung, it's appears to be the track that they have added just to make the CD appear a little longer. If you liked Morcheeba you will like this CD.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid debut 15 Aug 2006
Format:Audio CD
Good debut from Skye which takes a couple of listens to get into, but sounds better with each play and has a fair bit of depth.

Obviously reminds of Morcheeba but she has a sound of her own now.

Certainly 100% better than 'post Skye' Morcheeba cd - "The Antidote"

4.0 out of 5 stars lush 27 Jun 2014
Format:Audio CD
this is a real grower. I think it is as good as most moorcheeba albums. so high class. iT is in a similar vein, but the singing seems to come too the fore. it's not like the arrangements and instrumentation are sparse, but it makes the moorcheeba sound seem to dense. Skye's singing is as good as I've heard on this album. there is one track which some will find annoying , it has a constant refrain about the rain.
when people describe her voice as chocolate velvet, they are pretty well calling it, as it is

having heard this I want to see Skye's other download only album getting a proper release
