I read Dr Langers book many years ago, I found it thought provoking then and many times since. There are so many rich threads to follow from the book and the research studies. The chapter on mindful ageing, could I believe lessen the burden of the aged on the rest of the population, and more importantly add richness to the lives of senior citizens. A must read for parents, teachers and all those who are open to see beyond there own inevitable bias.

This is a good introduction for a general reader into mindfulness. Her style and constant reference to her own published work is a little annoying. I would have like to have seen more evidence of work in other areas apart from work with the elderly. If she had moved away from her own work a little it may have helped. There is a lot of work being undertaken with depression and mindfulness which would have made interesting reading. The last couple of chapters do turn a little too 'pop' psycholgy for my taste but, overall a fairly good over view and worth picking up.

Every word is a gem. Easy to understand but with academic rigour too. I have several copies and give it to friends.
