Product Description

It is said that when death draws near you your entire life flashes before your eyes. With perhaps only seconds to live, that's what happens to Hamish Macleod, except the life he sees is not his own but that of his rebellious twin brother. The moon was rising. Hamish strolled along the beach. He came upon a solitary coconut palm and decided to sit underneath it. Click! The sound heralded the arrival of a ten-second eternity. Red light flashed in his brain. A torrent of adrenaline screamed through his bloodstream and in those ten flesh-creeping seconds he recognized who he was Hamish Macleod, the man who had just sat on an unexploded landmine. His mind spun into fast rewind. The night Angus and Hamish were born on Scotland s holy isle of Iona, a gale raged across the west coast of Scotland. The tempest killed their father, and giving birth to twins took the life of their mother. Storm and tragedy were destined to mark both the twin brothers lives in very different ways. Join Hamish and Angus Macleod on a sex, drugs and rock and rolling helter-skelter ride that will transport you into dimensions beyond the known in Mind Bomb.

5.0 out of 5 stars 'A BOMBHANGER' 28 Dec 2007
That very rare thing, a top-notch novel with a matchless and riveting storyline...Mind Bomb's theme is a ridiculously funny, tragi-comic take on the lives of twin brothers viewed by one of the twins as he sits on top of an unexploded bomb. It is one of the most original and gripping tales I've read in years. It has all of the right ingredients, a compelling narrative drive, unique structural skill, scenes of brilliant vividness and an ironic sense of humour running through each and every chapter. I slowed up when reading the last pages because I didn't want the story to end. My only disappointment is that the follow-up hasn't been published yet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still laughing 21 Sep 2010
By marty
Hat's off to you Mr Mitchell for such a palpably funny entertaining and quite magical story. The other reviewers give good background to the tale and I don't have to touch on those angles.Mitchell is writing from certain experience and delivers his insight to the methods and theories of modern ''spiritual'' practices and these are presented in a great tongue in cheek jocular fashion. The different shifts in time help this and the whole result is that the author brings us into the fabric of the story...he persuades the reader to go along with him. He's honest enough to let us into his own personality as becomes apparent in certain characters. Incorporated in the book is a chain of occurrences guaranteed to take the reader on an unbelievably exciting adventure in a fantastic and memorable series of intrigues

5.0 out of 5 stars STRANGE, TAUT & ORIGINAL 12 May 2009
Perhaps one of the strangest novels I have ever read, definitely one of the most taut and original. Crammed with witty observations, detail and whacky humour. Not a plot I will forget in a hurry, very symbolic indeed. I enjoyed Mind Bomb immensely.

5.0 out of 5 stars BLOWN AWAY 3 Jan 2008
A remarkable read which had me hooked from beginning to end. Great characterization and absurd scenes from the Scottish Highlands to the violent streets of Glasgow. May well spark yet another sixties revival because the author makes it sound like those were the very best of times. Maybe he is right.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mind blower bomb 3 Jun 2010
Yes, the 50's and 60's where just that, a crazy, beautiful, unmissable, time. Luke Mitchell and I have about 10 years difference in age, I was transported back to my/our youth reading this book. The very flavour, the feeling and sensation of living those years are all there in these pages. I can't know, of course, how autobiographical, or true to his history this book is, but I do know that it synchs with my experiences very precisely. I didn't ever sit on a landmine, nor did I have any of the more extreme experiences related, but it all rings true. A wonderfully well written, unputdownable epic book. Thank you Mr. Luke Mitchell. WHEN'S THE NEXT ONE COMING OUT??????

5.0 out of 5 stars MIND BOMB MAKES A SEISMIC IMPACT 12 Dec 2007
I became so engrossed in this novel that I found myself believing that the author was actually describing true events. The first chapter throws the reader into the deep end and at times I was wandering what was going on, who was who and what on earth was coming next. By chapter five I was absolutely hooked and from there on in the only time I put the book down was when I had to because I could not stop laughing. That said, the story is also quite tragic. There are some descriptions of violence that are very graphic but not overdone. The author deals with the subject of sex in an explicit and humorous style which had me in stitches. The book is well written and the storyline is exceptionally original. I would recommend this book to anyone who has an open mind, people who enjoy dark humour and young readers who want to know about the sixties drug culture. 5 stars. Sandra
