A great introduction to using mime in Christian ministry,

This is a wonderfully clear and useful introduction to the techniques of mime and how mime may be used in Christian ministry. Susie Toomey writes from many years experience and this is apparent in the tips she shares. The book covers basic techniques of mime make-up and costumes, how to do body separations and warm ups, and gives tips for performances etc. I also appreciate how it explains the biblical basis for the use of mime in ministry, and includes 6 sample mime skits and 2 song interpretations (with clear pictograms) which may be used in church or evangelistic programmes. However, this book is just meant to be an introduction - so be forewarned that each chapter (there are 13 covering a whole range of sub-topics) is quite brief. It does refer you to other sources, though.

Great for Street Mimes,

I purchased this book to help prepare for a mime workshop. The book reminds me more of street mimes and not the modern day church mime. It was helpful and gave me some great ideas for games and technique.
It was good for the price I paid. |
