The simplicity and expressiveness of the pictures in this small book is reminiscent of Jules Feiffer's recent "Bark, George." Here, though, the art is in black-and-white, and there's really no story. But even without color or plot, this has exceptional charm for cat lovers, young and old. Using a few well-chosen words, Milton the cat does the talking, introducing himself and his highly "exceptional" characteristics: his "velvet paws," curious nose, alert eyes, and his "fearless personality." With each turn of the page Milton's self-satisfied nature become more evident, and the comedy richer. Ardalan's artwork captures Milton (in whole or and in parts) in all his two-tone glory--"busy" sitting on a chair, chasing mice (if he so chooses), and warming to life under the glow of a light bulb. There's certainly no shortage of cat books, but this is definitely one of a kind.

This is a great children's book about a cat with attitude. It's simple, clever, and elegant. Mine enjoyed the bold, black-and-white drawings from the time they were babies right through years of re-readings. Highly recommended.

My favourite Christmas present! (and I am well over 21...) Milton is a black and white Cat with Attitude. He has velvet paws (very elegant) and retractable claws (very sharp). He is fearless and leads a busy life sleeping on radiators. For ANY black-and-white-cat-lover who likes cats with character. The perfect present too!!

this is the coolest book! it inspired me to write my first review here at amazon so it MUST be good! it is beautifully designed/drawn...the story is simple...my fave part is "very elegant" about miltons velvet paws...if a cat shares his life with you, you'll love this book! ....if you're a little kid or a big kid, you'll love this book! ...if you like beautiful things, you'll love this book! ...(hmmmm...i wonder if he liked it?) :^)

This is the neatest book. Not only the cover is great but the pictures and the text are wonderful. Although this book is listed as a children's book and it would be perfect for any child. I also feel any adult cat lover would flip over the adorable Milton. It is a super book.

I picked this book up in a store that sells things such as rolling coasters and [costly] art deco toothbrushes. I picked it up first, because I'm a cat lover, and second, because I have not gotten over my fascination with children's books. I don't yet have a child, but I plan to protect this book in the next few years in order to share it with my child. As children's books go nowadays, the illustrations and the story are unique and simple. Milton is made to be endearing and sweetly feline in only about ten sentences. If you have a cat, you'll appreciate this book. If you have a child, share it with him/her to heighten the imagination and the mystique around our furry friends. And, if you don't have either, consider getting this book anyway-- it might convince you into one or the other!
