Product Description

Inspired by the true story of a flight with Sir Richard Branson, Millionaire Upgrade blows the lid off the accepted belief that successful entrepreneurs are a breed apart, possessing some special magic.

Through the combined wisdom of interviews with 50 self–made millionaire entrepreneurs, this book takes you on your own personal master class in success, as experienced through the eyes of Tom, a frustrated employee who is upgraded on a long haul flight, and finds himself sitting next to self made millionaire Michael. During the flight Michael shares the science and secrets behind his own success.

Better than any in–flight movie, Millionaire Upgrade gets you inside the minds of successful entrepreneurs and self–made millionaires giving you the inside track on how they think and act.

Praise for Millionaire Upgrade:

"It took me a long time to learn this stuff—I wish I’d been on that plane 30 years ago!"
Simon Woodroffe – YO! Sushi & Dragons Den

"The principles of success apply equally whether you are an aspiring entrepreneur, chief executive of a large plc or simply looking for inspiration for your own personal life. Here’s where you start, by reading this book."
Allan Leighton – Chairman, Royal Mail

"If you want a toolkit to help you become a successful entrepreneur, read this book. Then put it into practice."
Duncan Bannatyne – Bannatyne Leisure & Dragons Den

"Everything in business is a learning experience. I should know! I′d recommend all would–be entrepreneurs to read this book and be inspired to boldly set out on your own entrepreneurial journey. You won′t regret it."
Rachel Elnaugh – Red Letter Days and Dragons′ Den

"It is refreshing to find a book that describes the key difference between the entrepreneur and the rest – attitude. So often in life a cigarette paper’s thickness separates success from failure and Richard has written a book that perfectly captures this and suggests a way of thinking that can transform the tin of dog food into a thoroughbred racehorse."
Tim Smit – Eden Project

"Millionaire Upgrade captures the essence of what it takes to be successful in anything you choose to do. The rules of success are timeless and simply explained so you can apply them in your own business or personal life."
BJ Cunningham – Founder of Death Cigarettes

"In Millionaire MBA, Richard decoded entrepreneurs and unpicked their millionaire mindset. With Millionaire Upgrade, he has put it all back together again through IBELIEVE and a compelling story. Very clever and a must read for any budding entrepreneur!"
Rene Carayol – Leadership Guru

"It takes a certain mindset to succeed in creating your own business. This book spells out how you need to think and act to succeed – whether you are an entrepreneur or a professional manager. It’s a great read too."
Matthew Barrett – Chairman, Barclays Bank

From the Author

The story of Millionaire Upgrade really starts with the story
of Millionaire MBA Business Mentoring Programme, a course I developed to
teach the essential subjects which are not traditionally taught at business
school.

To create Millionaire MBA, I interviewed many leading UK entrepreneurs to
find out exactly what made them successful. I knew from my own MBA that
subjects such as finance, strategy, marketing and operations were important
in a business, but are not what ultimately makes entrepreneurs rich!

I always wanted to write a book based on my research for Millionaire MBA,
but didn't want it to be a direct transfer of the audio mentoring programme
onto paper. I searched around for quite some time to find an idea and an
angle, until one day a number of ideas aligned to the point where I could
see a story, the content and a hook which would make the book a great
read.

The first idea came from my public speaking. I'd been asked to talk about
my findings in Millionaire MBA a number of times and after the first couple
of events I realised that the way I presented my thoughts made it difficult
for the audience to remember the information and take it away and use it.
It was only after speaking to a friend who suggested I create a mnemonic,
that I came up with the idea of I BELIEVE. Each letter of I BELIEVE stands
for something which is consistent with all self-made millionaire
entrepreneurs. For me, I BELIEVE was the only choice of mnemonic, as it is
total self-belief and confidence that is shared by all entrepreneurs.

The hook for the story came from a chance meeting with Jason, a distant
relative of mine. I had in fact been to his wedding almost 15 years ago,
but had not seen him since! So I'm very pleased we met this time. He told
me of a recent flight he took where he was upgraded and found himself
sitting next to Sir Richard Branson. Jason was just about to start a
business and it was a dream opportunity for him to run his thoughts past
Sir Richard. It was this story that gave me the idea for writing
Millionaire Upgrade.

I knew I wanted the book to be story based and easy and simple to read.
There are other examples of books like this such as Fish, Who Moved my
Cheese and Tuesdays with Morrie. I drew my influences from these, but
Millionaire Upgrade is different in its own way.

There were two other important influences for me in writing Millionaire
Upgrade. Firstly, Think and Grow Rich a book written in the 1930s by
Napoleon Hill. Napoleon Hill is somebody I greatly admire and I tip my hat
to him in the book. I also tip my hat to Sir Tom Hunter, one of the
entrepreneurs I interviewed for Millionaire MBA. Although the main
character of Michael is the cumulative wisdom of all the entrepreneurs I
interviewed for Millionaire MBA, I used Sir Tom and his own story as a
framework for the character of the mentor.

I hope you enjoy reading this book as much as I enjoyed writing it and that
this is the start of your own Millionaire Upgrade journey.

I BELIEVE 3 Mar 2006
Format:Paperback
I completed Richard’s Millionaire MBA Mentoring Programme 2 years ago just as I was starting my own software business. Having worked for other software companies and having had the employee mindset for 17 years, I needed the guidance of some successful UK entrepreneurs who had been in my position and who had made the transition that I wanted to make. I needed to acquire the Millionaire Mindset.

Millionaire MBA delivered everything I wanted and more. There is nothing quite like hearing real-life stories and opinions from the entrepreneurs themselves, in their own words. When you hear what they did, what they’ve been through and how they think, it certainly gives you the confidence, inspiration and belief that if you follow the same guidelines and adopt the same mindset you too can achieve the same results. It’s very down-to-earth with no hype, just good, solid guidance on how it’s really done.

Millionaire Upgrade is an excellent introduction to this mindset, and the IBELIEVE mnemonic is an excellent way of keeping it in the front of your mind (as an extra reminder I now have a framed copy of it on my desk!). Very succinct, easy to understand messages wrapped up in an enjoyable story where you can imagine yourself as the character Tom (I certainly did).

I would strongly urge anyone who really wants to set up their own business, but has those limiting beliefs in the back of their mind that keep stopping them from doing it, to read Millionaire Upgrade and then do the Millionaire MBA Programme. It is highly likely to have a massive, positive effect on your life as it has with mine.

Enjoy business class 22 Jun 2006
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book is the story of a man who was given a lesson by a successful entrepeneur. Tom almost missed a flight. It was by good fortune that Michael, a successful entrepeneur, had booked two tickets in business class just in case his secretary was going to accompany him. Tom pulled out his book "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill. This sparked a long conversation about becoming a successful entrepreneur. The book details the conversation that happened.

I enjoyed this book. It had lots of useful information in it that could be used whether you are an aspiring millionaire or not. The writing style is clear and easy to read. This makes the book flow well and a joy to pick up.

Although the book is essentially about the mindset of a successful entrepeneur it reads like a novel. You don't have to be a goal orientated money minded whizz kid to read this book and enjoy it. There is lots that be gleened from such a book. If you are thinking of starting your own business it clearly outlines the tools you will need to join the likes of Richard Branson, Sir Alan Sugar and James Dyson.

I recommend this book to any reader who has a general interest in the mindset of a successful businessman. This book is not so much a blue print for future success. It is more the mindset one must adopt to enter the highly rewarding world of owning a business.

A joy to read 6 Sep 2006
Format:Paperback
for the past 2 years been in a job and Industry I no longer want to be in. I want to start my own business and make a difference to peoples lives and follow my dream.

I have read many business and motivational books including all of Napoleon Hill's but never really knew where to start but this book has helped put Napoleon Hill's principles into the 21st century. I felt I was reading about myself.

You really are a modern day Napoleon Hill. Keep up the good work.
