Inspiring stories from some of the world's most successful mumpreneurs'Millionaire Mumpreneurs' isn't about traditional start-ups or entrepreneurs. It's not about setting up a coffee shop, selling stuff on eBay, or marketing your own brand of organic clothing. It's about a new form of internet-based business, where you market your knowledge and expertise. From the woman who created her venture with a toddler underfoot, to the stressed advertising exec turned nutritionist, to the lawyer who took a leap of faith, Mel conducts interviews and profiles each mumpreneur's individual story and the secrets of their success. Offering practical information and tips on how you can do it too, 'Millionaire Mumpreneurs' covers many aspects of building a virtual business at home: from social-media marketing and multiple incomes to fitting your business around your family life. Motherhood doesn't mean you have to limit your options and potential. Far from it! By becoming a mumpreneur you can take control of your working life and achieve business success for yourself whilst being there for your family. 'Millionaire Mumpreneurs' is a guide for mums who want to know how to go about building a new kind of business from home and create their ideal flexible lifestyle.

I read this book in about 3 sittings - it was that good! Plus I had to read it with a notepad by my side to make lots of notes! Mel McGee has created a very positive book here - I especially loved the case studies from other Mumpreneurs as I could identify with something from each of the women's stories, and I picked up a few ideas from reading about their journey.

The book talks about creating a virtual business from home, selling your knowledge and expertise - rather than a 'bricks & mortar' business like a coffee shop. It starts by exploring the mindset you will need to get going, then how to keep things rolling once you are on the way! The case studies highlight the concepts Mel talks about and provide some inspiration and reassurance that if they can do it, so can you!

The key thing I will take from this book is to do something uncomfortable every day to expand my comfort zone. This was a great tip and is something I can implement immediately! I really enjoyed this book and will definitely revisit it again when I need to freshen my thinking!

I cant begin to tell you how let down I was by this book. I was looking for some inspiration, mum with two children, dont want to go back to work to break my back for someone else and make yet another person wealthy etc etc. I have studied business and have worked as a PA for years - plenty of experience and knowlege but totally lacking inspiration. Thought this book would help. Wrong.

The blurb on the book tells us its all about the successful women who have made themselves millionaires by online success and that actually is, all it is. Half a dozen or so women who have followed exactly the same business model - the business model the writer is following and advising you to do so... here it is for those of you who want to save a few quid...

Think of something you are good at (like the women in this book its advantagous to be a lawyer or something like that - but because they have a child it makes them just like us)
Set up a blog and rant about what you know every day
Make a list of everyone who followes your blog and comments on it
Set up a website about your knowlege
Go on a few expensive courses about your chosen subject and get a few made up qualifications
Tell all the people on your list about your website and how you are the worlds leading expert
Give away some information on your website and then charge the earth for the rest using cds, books ebooks etc
If you are really lucky you could write a hollow book like this one and sell your "knowlege" too
And you will be a millionaire - honestly...

The same lame message repeated over and over again. The only time this woman came off her sales pitch was with a random comment instantly recognisable from Think and Grow Rich about "attracting" your success (sure enough, acknowldged in the Bibliography at the back).

I haven't found the book for me yet but if you do want an inspirational book - albeit not written by a mum - Duncan Bannatyne. A real easy read, he has done a couple but its the autobiography you want.

In writing Millionaire Mumpreneurs: How Successful Mums Made a Million Online and How You Can Do It Too! Mel McGee has made an important contribution to moving forwards the way mums run businesses.

If you've ever looked at a website and wondered how the owner makes their money, and whether you could do it too, read Millionaire Mumpreneurs. It is a great starting point for anyone who would like to run a website selling information, mentoring, coaching and self development products.

One of the most important ideas in the book is that it gives mums permission to think really big, to aim for that million pound income. What's more, many of the women who feature as case studies in the book are not running high cost offices, but still home based.

If you are running a regular product-based business, it is still worth investing in this book to learn the way that the successful mumpreneurs think: Mel talks about this 'successful mindset' in the final part of the book which takes lessons from the businessmums interviewed and shows you how to apply them yourself.

Millionaire Mumpreneursis a great book for any mum with her own business as well as for those looking for business ideas. In the end, running an online information site is not going to be the business model for everyone, but you can still learn loads from this easy-to-read book.
