Product Description

Godspeed was fueled by lies. Now it is ruled by chaos.

It's been three months since Amy was unplugged. The life she always knew is over. And everywhere she looks, she sees the walls of the spaceship Godspeed. But there may just be hope: Elder has assumed leadership of the ship. He's finally free to enact his vision - no more Phydus, no more lies.

But when Elder discovers shocking news about the ship, he and Amy race to discover the truth behind life on Godspeed. They must work together to unlock a puzzle that was set in motion hundreds of years earlier, unable to fight the romance that's growing between them and the chaos that threatens to tear them apart.

In book two of the Across the Universe trilogy, New York Times best-selling author Beth Revis mesmerizes us again with a brilliantly crafted mystery filled with action, suspense, romance, and deep philosophical questions. And this time it all builds to one mind-bending conclusion: They have to get off this ship.

Wow. This book kind of blew me away. I read Across the Universe not too long ago, and though I enjoyed it, I didn't love it like a lot of people. I felt some moments of the book were a little slow and the romance wasn't as developed as I'd hoped. Well, there were none of those problems in this book. Beth Revis totally stepped up and took this book to a whole other level. I was gripped from the very first page. The story was so exciting, filled with tension and drama and twists and turns. I'm watching through Battlestar Galactica at the moment, and it reminds me of this book. You never quite know who to trust, and you can go from loving a character to hating them in the space of chapters. It keeps you on your toes! I also love all the secrets and questions that arise as Amy and Elder are sent on a bit of a wild goose chase. Towards the end of the book I was speeding through because I was so desperate to find the answers. And answers I got! I loved that the book both wrapped certain mysteries up but also kept me desperate for more. Seriously, I don't know how I'm going to survive until the third book comes out :(

The romance was also MUCH better this time round. I actually cared about Amy and Elder's relationship, and I got all giddy during their sweet moments. I also loved seeing the both of them grow. Amy barely annoyed me this time around and she was a strong but also vulnerable character that I could empathise with. The same goes for Elder. I already really liked him in Across The Universe, but now I love him. He had so much to deal with, and I think he showed a lot of courage and compassion but also moments of weakness that made him three dimensional. There were some new characters introduced, and old characters, and some of them made my blood boil, but they were meant to! So Beth Revis did a great job there as well.

Sigh. Writing this review is making me want to re-read the book. I definitely will before the third book comes out. If you liked Across the Universe, or even just thought it was okay, I'd say definitely give this book a go. It has everything good from the first book and much much more. Filled with mystery, sci-fi, romance, power struggles and emotion, what's not to love?

A must read 21 Mar 2012
Format:Hardcover
I really enjoyed book one across the universe so I was overjoyed to get my hands on the next book A million suns.
Godspeed is dealing with the after mouth of the last book. Eldest is dead and Elder now is in charge the drug that normally keeps everyone under control has been taken away giving Godspeed people back their freedom but things are worse than ever. People are angry and lash out while others have slipped into a deep depression. Elder struggles to keep order and control over the people he's meant to look after. While Amy is grappling with her fear and loneliness. After what Luthor nearly did to her that horrible act still lingers in her mind and is only made worse by the fact that people on Godspeeds seem half out of their mind by their new freewill.

I can honestly say that book two was even better than book one. I found that I really loved the growing suspense and mystery. Orion leaves a trail of bream crumbs for Amy to follow I was so excited by the thought of finally knowing the big secret I was not disappointed. Even with Orion is frozen and out of harms way he still very much involved with the book and still in his own way making trouble which kind of made me smile that he's still very much in everyone's minds.
There are also lots of drama regarding the shift of power and that leads to a lot of nail biting confrontation. I was gripped completely by the story the author wove and the emotions that were running so high in the book. People are at their craziest and ready to do some stupid things.
I have to say when I finally got to the end I was open mouthed in shock. The things that had happened and by the way the book ended has left me with this burning desire to know what will happen next.

Beth Revis is one amazing writer and she has to be one of my favourite authors. While I'm reading her books nothing else exist but space and Godspeed.

Super Sequel 18 Mar 2012
Format:Hardcover
I liked Across the Universe, but I enjoyed this sequel even more. The plot for both books was well thought out, but with A Million Suns I was surprised - and thrilled! - that I couldn't predict the ending.
My only quibble is that the romance between Amy and Elder hasn't picked up much speed and they're still both very much over-thinking everything, but there has been a smidgeon of development :-)
The biggest change has been to the way Godspeed works and how the inhabitants think. A newly conscience population are all in their own way overwhelmed - some feel liberated, some terrified and looking at their lives anew has caused a wave of depression for others.
Amy was a little less strong here, and I felt that may have been for the convenience of the plot - she found herself unable to share things which she should have had the strength to do, but had she done so the story wouldn't have been as interesting! So, as annoying as I found a couple of her actions, I can understand why Beth Revis wrote her this way; a wise decision, cause it kept the tension flowing.
Elder's matured since Across the Universe, and though he struggles to deal with the increasing chaos aboard ship, he does make important decisions.
Shockingly, there's a new and methodical killer aboard Godspeed, and forced into detective work Amy and Elder discover something unbelievable. There are a lot of answers in this book: did you ever wonder why Vic is so cold towards Amy? Wondered what Luth would do next? Wondered why Harvey's girlfriend would have committed suicide when she loved him so much and seemed to be happy? Aside from giving us answers, this book opens our eyes to even more mysteries that await Amy and Elder.
The end was perfectly executed and I can't wait to read the next book!
