5.0 out of 5 stars Superb book on online poker, 20 July 2006
This review is from: Make a Million from Online Poker (Paperback)
This is a superb book on online poker. I now have a huge collection of books on the subject of poker, and this one is the one I keep referring to.

If you take your online poker seriously, and most people should as the game is not a crap shoot or penny arcade, then this book is an affordable addition to your collection.

I found the book well written, and full of very useful content.
There are some basic maths here which are very cleverly constructed (the author used to be a bookmaker) and I found this section of the book particularly useful.

I have actually photocopied this section and have pasted it next to my computer that I play Texas Hold 'em on. I find this incredibly helpful when making decisions.

Well worth acquiring at a reasonable cover price plus the Amazon discount!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very helpful guide, 29 May 2006
This review is from: Make a Million from Online Poker (Paperback)
Forget the trash comments from reviewers who obviously don't understand poker odds and terminology. This book is the BEST, very helpful and very useful. Whilst the pot odds section may be complicated, they are the essential part of successful poker play, and it is my intention to memorise them.

2.0 out of 5 stars Covers the very basics, 4 Aug 2006

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Make a Million from Online Poker (Paperback)
I recommend this book if you are a complete novice looking to learn the basics of the game of poker. If I had read this book when I was just starting to play the game it would have been of some use and I would probably have learnt what I know now a little quicker.
However as an established online player (I've been playing for real money for 10 months now) I feel this book has added nothing to my understanding of the game and how it should be played. The content of the book is very basic and fails to elaborate any further.
The book focuses mainly on small stakes games and offers advice on how to be successful against bad players with very little advice on how to play high stakes tables against better quality opposition.
All of the advice in the book makes good sense but the concepts are hardly groundbreaking and to me seemed like common-sense rather than advanced tactics.
