First some background - I am middle-aged, middle-class english guy with v little time for C&W or its rock varieties. My fave band is the Beatles, my fave album Blood on the Tracks and I grew up during the new wave period - Blondie, Boomtown rats etc. I bought this album for less than a pound in a secondhand record shop in North Watford in 1986 on account of the only song I knew: The Devil Went Down... And I should say that I dislike everything I have ever heard about Charlie Daniels and his Redneck proto-fascist politics. So, the album: I have now bought and carried with me four or five copies of this album in various formats. It packs an emotional punch you wouldn't believe and it rocks and how. Maybe it was the broken heart I was carrying from a recently broken relationship but this album lifted me up and carried me through in a way that no other music did. Rainbow Ride is a wonderful C&W/rock tryptich (sic), Passing Lane is funky as all outdoors, MIssissipi makes me yearn for the old south in a way that is completely alien to the person I've described in the opening, the song about Elvis, Janis Joplin and Lynyrd Skynyrd (can't remember title) moves beyond cheese into epic grandeur and, of course, Devil Went Down is funny and fun. Every track is a pleasure to behold and I hope you don't have to have a broken heart to enjoy it. Go on, take a chance, buy it and I hope you'll never regret it. The cover's rubbish though.

I had purchased a single that contained The Devil Went Down To Georgia and Rainbow Ride. I looked for them on MP3 download and found this album and decided to buy it. I enjoyed listening to the music and recommend it to anybody who likes The Charles Daniels Band

Charlie Daniels has been in in the country rock scene for some years.
40 years ago he played on Bob Dylan's Nashville Skyline.
On Million Mile Reflections is his most likely best know recording, The Devil Went Down To Georgia.
If there is better fiddle playing I haven't heard it !
The remainder of the album is much more diverse than I expected with among others Southern Rock being part of the mix.
Nothing wrong with the quality there, but none can match the standout track named above.
