I am really unimpressed with this author. I am a techie geek and use technology to my advantage. The methodology suggested in this book is extremely outdated and the approach is the one of a newbie that has very little knowledge on what s/he is doing. There are so much better books out there (social media bible to mention one).

It is ridiculous to see that 95% of the 5 stars reviews of this book on Amazon US are given by people that are part of the AW circle that pay to deliver his mentor program without having any qualification. Very objective indeed!

If you want to learn how to establish and maintain an effective web presence learn from the pros and not by these two authors. Check out their websites and use of social media and you would see why they are not authorities in this field: blog that are just angry rants, talking down to people and playing the "i am superior" card. Cheesy music for the podcast (check Pat Flynn if you want to know how to make successful and meaningful pod cats). This is a tool to market they web building business that charges ridiculous amount of money (+$30K!) to create outdated and standard websites that you can easily build yourself using Worpress and elegant themes for less than 100. And talking about ethics: they will write white papers for you and film a testimonial even if they do not know you. Million dollar web presence? yes, for them if they can find people who buy into their lack of knowledge in the social media and web design space.

This book is neither fantastic or horrendous - I found parts of it a bit wordy and difficult to wade through and other parts really useful and informative. I like that aspects were interactive and have scribbled all over my copy. I would recommend this book to anyone that is considering setting up an internet business as I am sure that there is something in it for everyone. Some chapters of the book were more useful than others for me. I found the blog and social media chapters particularly interesting as they offered advice that I can implement immediately. As I begin to work on other elements of my site (help4psychologystudents), I will be re-reading other relevant chapters.This book is therefore great as a reference guide that can be dipped into when needed.Overall a handy, informative read, but as any self respecting entrepreneur should know, to make a million dollars (or pounds in my instance)it really is a simple as a little ingenuity and LOTS of hard work!

This is a rare book because it focusses on objectives. It is concerned more with developing a great website that brings in more business, rather than just developing a great website. In the book Chad Barr very cleverly combines marketing skills, and shrewd business strategy, with the technical know how to build a beautiful and effective website. The book is written in an engagingly frank, witty and down to earth style, that will be familiar to those who have read books by the second author, Alan Weiss. I loved the book and it will add value to any professional service firm who wants to improve their web presence.

As an unskilled but willing user of all things technological I was alarmed when the world moved from predictable equipment and products to viral communiction 24/7. As a business owner I have no choice but to join in or die. When I saw this book I could hardly believe it. I already have a number of books by Alan Weiss which offer incredible value - seemed too good to be true that there was now one written by both Alan and Chad - I could understand and use it immediately and it is written like nothing else on the market. It is clear, focussed, tightly framed and chock full of "how to" stuff which is usable. So I say "buy this before any other book on the subject".

I got sucked in by the reviews. This book is for business consultants and the like, who want to build the typical consulting site, complete with mug shot.

Very basic stuff and concepts. Anyone looking to grow a web brand or a startup, this is not for you. Believe me there is nothing new for you here.

This book is an amazing distillation of decades of experience of the authors being thought-leading consultants. If you're like me, wanting to create high impact presence on-line, by virtue of your intellectual property, this book lays out pretty much everything you need to consider. There's way too much to apply all at once; it's like a giant smorgasbord of possibilities. I know that if I implement even 10% of what's here, my visibility to current and potential clients will grow dramatically.

This is the best book I have read about creating a web presence in the professional services marketplace, bar none. It is very clearly written with hundreds of specific examples and the suggestions are presented in a very accessible manner. Most web presence-related publications are overwhelming or too technical or just boring. A few are inspiring. This book is definitely one of the latter.

Million Dollar Web Presence is a vital resource for any business leader intent on success in today's online universe. From critical strategies to intensely practical steps of action, Chad Barr and Alan Weiss lay out a roadmap for Internet success. No mere theorists, however, the authors provide countless real-world examples of the principles they espouse. These stories alone are worth the price of the book.

Here are three items that were the most helpful to me:

1. The Marketing Gravity Wheel where I was able to see how my web presence fits with the other marketing efforts I'm engaged in.

2. The repeated encouragement to use a variety of methodologies to connect with my clients, from blogging to podcasting, from streaming video to email newsletters, and everything in-between .

3. The Social Media Action plan where I can in just 12 minutes a day have a meaningful presence in the social sphere without having it suck up vast quantities of time.

I'm giving this book 3 stars because if you're new to the web, it's a good book to borrow from the library. Otherwise, its a good book with basic information. If I knew nothing about websites, I'm sure the book would have been more helpful. I felt this was written by Mr. Weiss vs. Mr. Barr. I'd like to see a link from the book to a website of resources that are mentioned in the book. I'd like to see the newsletters, and websites that have been used as samples.
