This is yet another in the long line of useful books from Tubal Cain. This book is packed with illustrations, techniques and examples on milling, and how to get the most out of your lathe.

All of the example are based on a Myford ML7 so are easily modified for other lathes.

At the very least, this book will save you the cost of a vertical mill for many jobs, and for the beginner, will allow you to tackle more complex jobs.

Easy Milling Guide 20 Jan 2010
Format:Paperback
While the lathe was not designed for milling this book shows the lathe user how to carry out many basic operations that might otherwise be difficult with hand-tools. I tried to mill a flat on the side of a cylinder (with moderate success). Had I read this book first I would have accomplished the same but with more confidence and, probably, better results.

If you are new to model engineering, or more experienced but cannot afford to buy a milling machine, I would definitely recommend this book.

Update required 17 Nov 2009
By Saarno Timo - Published on Amazon.com

I'm planning to buy a mill but first I wanted to check out if this book might help me using my lathe as a mill. As a schoolbook it covers the issue, but I would very much like to see this book coming to this century. Whole pictorial and lots of issues covered are ancient history. Nice to know as such, but not so easy to made useful today.

I like the book series and I have bought several of the series. This one was a bit disappointment.

AN EXCELLENT BRGINNING TEXT. 1 Dec 2009
By Dennis Helms - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
A good basic text on milling, not a detailed "how to". If you would like a good, readable book on the basic milling operations that can be done on a lathe this is a good book
