Bought this lovely story for my 5 year old daughter but it's just as good for 30 year old mums! Really nice story about friendship and acceptance with fantastic illustrations, definitely a new favourite in our house!

After seeing this book on CBeebies bedtime stories I was quite intrigued to buy it for my 3 year old daughter. We bought it just over a week ago and she absolutely loves it.
It tells the story of a meerkat who has presumably fallen out of a plane in his cargo box. Millicent finds him and reads the label attached to his box which says, 'Meerkat'. She presumes this creature she has just discovered is a cat whose name is Meer (hence the title). Having always wanted a cat her parents say that she can keep him but they all soon discover that he doesn't do the normal cat things and trouble ensues with Millicent's parents saying that she can no longer keep Meer in their house. With the help of a friend Meer and Millicent discover Meer's family and Millicent ends up with two unexpected friends for life.
A beautifully illustrated book, 'Millicent and Meer' has been requested numerous times since only having owned for just over a week. Highly recommended.

I really like this story, characters are vivid, illustrations modern and striking. I haven't got bored of reading it yet, and I think that says something! Meer is a real character and my girls both choose it over and over.
