When I got these nail clippers I thought the worst because they seemed very light weight.
We have two big labs and their nail are tough. However these clippers are JUST BRILLIANT.
Each time I am able to trim off just about 1/10 of an inch off each claw no matter how much they wriggle.
I would rather trim each nail twice if needed rather than cut too deep!
Another good thing is that they are whisper quiet, no sharp ratchet noise like the last pair I got.
Give them a go I love `em

Great product, my dog hates having her nails clipped and I must have bought 5 pairs over the years. These are sharp and accurate and get the job done with no fuss. Definitely recommend them.

A dachshund's nails are not easy to trim, simply because they have very little leg to hold on to to position the foot for a start. Factor in that our two are an absolute nightmare about having them done even though we have attempted to desensitise them with regular feet handling. Then the icing on the cake that both of our beloved dachshunds have had spinal surgery for ruptured discs so we must take extra care to keep their backs supported and straight and what you have is two over-anxious owners who hate this job, and two dachshunds who loathe having it done and make it as difficult as possible. It had become such a trauma that 4 weeks ago we took both dogs to a pet parlour, explaining that Louie had had back surgery 9 weeks previously and that they must be kept horizontal. The people at the parlour did their best but it was grim, they kept trying to hold them upright and that is a non-no for their backs :( We came out vowing we had to start getting tough and doing it ourself to keep their backs straight. I did lots of research into the best nail clippers to use as previously I had used Mikki guillotine style, which needed a new blade after two uses ! The blades were as expensive as the clippers and the shipping even more. And positioning the nail inside the hole took so long that the dosg got more and more stressed and my hand was shaking with nerves. Not good.
These clippers had some great reviews on different sites, and were even recommended by a dog trainer on a video I watched about trimming dogs nails at home. They were reasonably priced ( especially compared to £14 for 2 nail trims or £8 including postage for 3 blades) . We ordered them and today we have just had a minor revelation at how much better nail trimming can be.

Very fit for purpose. So much easier to use than what I had previously. Speedily dispatched.
Would recommend to any pet owner whose dog has sensitive feet.

I have found the Millers Forge Nail Clipper to be excellent - quiet, precise and giving a clean cut. I bought these clippers to trim the nails of my 3 month Border Terrier. As this is my first dog I am a novice at trimming a dog's nails and so was and still am quite nervous when clipping!! I am following the 'often and little' approach to nail clipping in order to avoid cutting the quick and hurting him. I do not want to make him afraid of getting his nails clipped. My puppy has dark nails and so nearness to the quick is difficult to tell, other than by looking the cut area of the nail (I am following the information given in a Youtube video on cutting dark nails called 'Trimming Black and White Toenails in Dogs' ... it is cheesy at the end but the advice has worked well for me). Precision is important ... and these clippers are precise. I clip when my puppy is half asleep on my lap and the clippers are quiet so he does not really notice what I am doing. I do not use the guard as it would be pretty useless re the 'correct' depth but as it folds up out of the way it is not annoying or in the way. I like the catch that keeps the clippers closed when not in use. The span of the handles is feels nice and the clippers would be ok for small or large hands.

I have had various nail clippers over the years and these are the best yet. I have arthritic hands and they are so easy to grip. They cut through the nail with very little effort so my dogs are happy too, no more nail ripping. would highly recommend them.
