Book Description

For those of you who enjoyed Buttercream, here’s another delicious story about the “flower children” of the Blakemore clan.

When a massive land development deal brings together high-powered dealmaker Cypher Lawrence and latter day hippie goat herder Jacinto Blakemore the last thing either expects is an explosive attraction that leaves them desperate for more. Cypher has been assigned to broker a contract with Jacinto for the sale of his farm. Despite his laid-back demeanor Jacinto has a will of iron and is determined to hold on to his land against Cypher’s corporation.

Business considerations take a back seat as they discover a love that transcends their differences, and Jacinto’s beloved moonlit prairie is just the balm Cypher’s overextended spirit needs. They fall into a serendipitous relationship, but when corporate intrigue threatens to tear them apart there might not be enough similarities and trust to sustain their love.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another great piece of work from Roslyn Holcomb! 14 Oct. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
There are so many things I love about Milk & Honey, I'm not even sure where to start.

First, I've been a fan of Holcomb since Rock Star, though I admit that I've recently been bored with the white heroes. Milk & Honey is refreshing in that angle as Jacinto is of Vietnamese descent. I finished reading this within a day, it is an easy read and the story moves quickly, the only con is that the story ended too soon! (Only reason I gave it four stars instead of five) I wish it was longer because I didn't want to leave Cypher and Jacinto's world.

But back to the pros, the cover is absolutely gorgeous, Cypher is a really interesting well-rounded character, Jacinto tells lame jokes (that still made me laugh) and there are goats! I strongly recommend this one and can't wait to read more books with Asian heroes from Roslyn Holcomb.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great love Story. 19 Oct. 2013

Ms. Hardy Holcomb has again written a heart warming HEA story. The unlikely relationship between Jacinto and Cypher was wonderful. This story also gave a more than cursory insight into cooperative, natural living. While I wouldn't choose to live in a yurt, living on a prairie has its appeal.
3.0 out of 5 stars Likeable characters 2 Jan. 2014
By Romance Novels in Color - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition
Cypher Lawrence worked for RFS Development and her job was to secure the farm land owned by Jacinto Blakemore. Jacinto lived off his land and absolutely refused to sell which did not please Cypher’s boss Gerard Flowers. To show Cypher why he refused to sell, Jacinto invited her to spend the day at his farm just so she could see the beauty of it.

Her boss couldn’t understand why she would agree, but Cypher looked at it like a challenge and wanted to see for herself.
I have read a few stories by this author and have enjoyed them, my favorite being ‘Hot for Teacher’. She has an ease of writing that draws you into her characters and their lives and makes you feel at home. Milk and Honey was one of those stories, the characters were likeable and the story was a good one. That being said, when reading this story it was at times slow moving in some areas and even though there was attraction between the characters I didn’t feel like there was any real chemistry.

As I said, I liked both characters and I liked them with each other, but something was missing, that something that makes you want to continue reading even after the last page has been read. Milk and Honey is a pleasant story and I would recommend it as a book you should put on your reading list. I just wanted a little bit more of a connection between the two characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ms. Holcomb Brings the Funny and the Sexy 1 Jan. 2014
By The Fountain Pen Diva - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition
YES! This one is definitely a keeper. Holcomb knows how to bring the funny and the sexy. As I stated on my update, only she could pull off a romance featuring a white pygmy goat named Helga, a burrow owl named Alfred who tends to make his home right on Helga's head, and a sexy Vietnamese organic farmer and cheese-maker who lives in a yurt and make the entire crazy thing perfectly reasonable.

Cypher and Jacinto are like the show 'Green Acres' (and that damn theme song kept playing in my head). Cypher's (whose name comes from having a military family background) the high-powered real estate broker and city girl who literally runs into (and the attraction is instant) 'country boy' organic farmer Jacinto Blakemore. Cypher's firm wants Moonlit Prairie Farm, the land that Jacinto owns. He's not going to sell. Instead he invites Cypher to Moonlit Prairie Farm to see for herself what the land means to him. The directions he gives her are absolutely hilarious. Forget the GPS.

Oh, and meet the rest of the Blakemore clan:

“No. Stephanotis, Sunflower and Ranunculus are their biological kids. Gentian, Poppy, Daffodil, Daisy, Fuchsia and I were all adopted.”

“Did you say, Stephanotis, Sunflower and...”

“Ranunculus. We all have flower names.”

She frowned, then shook her head. “You don’t.”

“Yes, I do. Jacinto is Spanish for Hyacinth, which is my given name. I started calling myself Jacinto when I got tired of getting in fights in elementary school.”

Exactly. And why I want more stories about the rainbow family.

Yes, there's scorching sex but with this author it makes sense because the story is solid. Even in a book as short as this, Holcomb knows how to craft quirky yet real characters I love and care about. Even the animal characters have personalities. She doesn't commit genderfail by tossing her heroines under the bus when the hero comes along. And oh myyyy, I'd curdle milk with Jacinto any day!

Okay, now I need a Moonlit Prairie Farm T-shirt to go with the Storm Crow one.
