A trend emerges when reading this book. It concerns who won and lost wars and battles, what I got from this book was a sense of why they were won and lost. The qualities of generalship are plain to see, who deserves praise and who does not. One arguable flaw is an unjust bias towards the french, but when the lack of talents of many of the allied commanders are made clear I don't feel sympathetic. Also the same can be said of French commanders. That the book is told trough the view of napoleon is not unfair. Frequently are French offenisves to be seen, the book is meant to deal with the Gereralship of Napoleon firstly, it even says so on the cover.
