I have owned an earlier cd re-issue of this 1970's classic LP for over ten years. When I saw a reasonably priced copy of the newer re-issue in the Amazon Marketplace, I decided to buy. This newer re-issue greatly improves the sound: It sounds fuller (with more air around the instruments) and less digital shrillness typical of early digital remastered cd's. What makes this a good deal is the inclusion of a vintage recording of the complete "Saudades do brasil" conducted by the composer himself. Four of the movements appear twice on the disc- first conducted by Bernstein- and then later by the composer Milhaud. Bernstein was considered one of the most talented conductors of the 20th century, but nobody knows the music better than Milhaud, and you can clearly hear the improved interpretation.
