Product Description

Product Description

Two masters of music combine to produce the richest blend of electronica, nu-jazz and world music. a 21st Century amalgum , "without a hint of cliche in sight" the Guardian.

Any collaboration between thse two would be newsworthy but this is little short of revolutionary. Once again setting the standard for others to follow, Miles_Gurtu render the potential of man-machine interplay on a deeply intuitive aad profoudnly new musical level.

The depth, breadth, attention to detail and sheer vibe is so much in abundance on this release.

A truly ground breaking and genre busting classic...

…strange and extraordinary album. Musical cross-fertilisation, done right, is a terrific idea, and this shimmying, funking album proves it. -- Metro

5.0 out of 5 stars Miles_Gurtu. 42.15 minutes of pure joy. 26 Feb 2004
Format:Audio CD
When you first think of an Asian and European duo album or even a single, images of that certain Peugeot advert come back. Well you’ll be glad to hear that it’s not even close to this.
This album comes after Robert Miles equally interesting Organik Album. This was a big leap from previous albums like 23 A.M and Dreamland. Miles_Gurtu though finishes of what Organik seemed to be heading toward. Miles_Gurtu is not as raw as Organik was, nor is it anything like the first two albums in terms of the music style.
The combination of Robert on keyboards and Gurtu on percussion sets itself out to be an interesting mix, but also add into the mix instruments local to India and the combination of samples and already it’s sounding like a interesting treat.
The album boarders on instrumental (which it is all the way through) Jazz in some areas, to a more dance feel and it even heads back to its Organik roots and Indian styles. It flows so brilliantly that there’s no need for shuffle. It’s length at 45 minutes may sound short, but at 15 tracks long each one blends in to the next but still each with their own sound, the 45 minutes seem over rather quickly, but you don’t ask for more you feel satisfied with the experience. It’s a good relaxing album when played low, but played loud you can get into the groove of things and some tracks seem to boarder on dance.
If your aiming for an Album that like Organik, your close but this is a much more smoother affair and one that feels perhaps more polished as well. Even if your not a Robert Miles Fan or Gurtu, don’t be put of by names, it really is a great album that has an interesting sound to it, which you’ll most likely not hear again this year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Robert Moves Further Leftfield 29 Feb 2004
Format:Audio CD
I admit, I was very skeptical about this album. Being a fan since the early days before Dreamland, this was a step back. I started learning this is a good thing. Robert has never recording a album which sounded the same as the last. I found this album to be a mix of 23AM's tranciness and Organik's pure quality.
The production is flawless, down right, chill-out music. Great for a quiet night at home.

1.0 out of 5 stars not what i was expecting 25 Feb 2004
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Rather disappointing. I was expecting leftfield mixed with asian grooves but instead it turns out to be a jazz album. If you like double bass then you'll enjoy this album, unfortunately I don't. The album would be perfect as background music to a chilled Sunday afternoon (assuming you enjoy jazz). It's a shame that the "pan-continental leftfield DJ" and the "maverick indian music master" didn't combine at those levels.
