The best music DVD I have, 9 Feb 2005
This review is from: Mike Oldfield - Elements - the Best of [DVD] (DVD)
I've been waiting for a release like this for years! Mike Oldfield's promo videos finally on DVD. Until now, the only versions of these readily available were the few at the end of the old Wind Chimes video album (all on this DVD). These alone would have made the purchase worthwhile, but there are 19 promo videos and a live BBC performance of Tubular Bells from 1976 on this DVD. The extras alone would be worth a separate DVD release, including, as they do the whole of The Wind Chimes video album. As a fan of all Mike's music, this is a great DVD. I just can't believe that I haven't seen any promotion of this DVD on TV and only found out about it by accident through a Yes website, which happened to mention Jon Anderson's appearance on the Shine video. Highly recommended and definite must for any Oldfield fan. This is the best music DVD I have, and I have quite a few.

At Last - The Virgin Years On DVD!, 29 Nov 2004
This review is from: Mike Oldfield - Elements - the Best of [DVD] (DVD)
For Oldfield fans a real treat - pretty much all of the videos during his time at Virgin (save for a couple of alternative versions) now in glorious DVD vision and sound! The set starts with an excellent live performance of 'Tubular Bells' from the BBC's "2nd House". Very much a product of the times - all serious looks with the emphasis being on the music rather than big light displays. The videos from the Seventies emphasise Mike's multi instrumental skills ('In Dulci Jubilo', 'Portsmouth' and 'William Tell Overture' are pretty much the same video set to different music! The biggest surprise being a video for 'Don Alfonso' - one that probably most people have never seen. The clips from the Eighties show off the technology of the day - it has to be said they look very dated now but at least most of the music compensates for this! The extras are pretty comprehensive - an extract from the rare "Space Movie", 'The Wind Chimes' and an interview dating back to the early Nineties. All in all a must have for a Mike Oldfield fan...not sure if it has much appeal for others but it does have enjoyable moments and the music is certainly high quality pretty much throughout.

This review is from: Mike Oldfield - Elements - the Best of [DVD] (DVD)
A must for die hard fans if you collect Mike Oldfields music this will complete your collection. It's al here and a lot more besides from the first video of tubular bells to wind chimes (witch is a video version of Islands c d ) It's also nice to see videos of the singles as well . Don Alfonso reminds me of Benny hill gladly Mikes music got better I became a fan of mikes music from his platinum tour and started collecting his music past and present but some videos went out of print but thanks to this dvd my collection is now complete. The main reason I bought this was for wind chimes ant tubular bells (BBC Performance) but I'm impressed with all of the dvd grate value with two hours fifty minuets of footage
