Product Description

A Dark fantasy:

Discovered home alone, dreamer Jack, belligerent Ellie, and prudent Jamie go to live in the countryside. To the children’s delight, they find two old dinghies and have great fun messing around on the river.
Suddenly, disaster strikes, they are attacked and tumble ever downwards towards the centre of the Earth. There the Lord of winter, Balor enslaves them. The irrepressible children escape, are collected by Hadi, and taken before the wise Oracle, the writer of fates.
He notices Mihte, the prophesied one has returned from among them. He sets them on a dangerous quest to demonstrate Mihte Lugh’s identity.
The courageous children face an extraordinary adventure in a metaphysical world of transitions, a true depiction of the Druidic fairy world. They meet bloodcurdling monsters, find the druids, and help the elves and houyhnhnms. They encounter an array of Celtic mythical illusions before facing great battles to complete their quest.

NOTE:
Mihte’s Quest revives the fantastical world view as described in traditional druid poetry.
- A book sequel is underdevelopment as a children's television series since broadcasters started taking interest.
- An international co-production is being assembled to make an animated feature film.

5.0 out of 5 stars I cannot put it down 17 Feb 2009
Format:Paperback
This is the story of three kids who were deserted by their mother and left to their own devises. Through a trick of fate they ended up in the Underworld as prisoners. It was after their escape from the feind gnomes that they were saved by the Oracle's servant Hadi, a Moor. The Oracle gave them a way home by completing a quest that involved saving the Underworld from the evil Gnome king and defeating him in battle.

This book was absolutely great, gripping from start to finish. It would make a great fantasy action film the cast would be extraodinary. The skill of Mihte, his wit and generocity makes him the ideal hero. The writer bring the words alive like a hologram infront of the reader.

I cannot wait to read Lookman's next book.

Little do Jack, Jamie and suspicious Ellie know they are in for adventures most people only dream about!

Jamie, Jack and Ellie's mother is a drug addict spending time with her latest boyfriend. The children are sent to live with their father and his new family when Social Services discover the children living by themselves. At their fathers' home they finally get good food and a good nights' sleep.

The next day, Jack and Jamie find two old dinghies in the shed in their fathers back garden. They decide to blow them up and go rowing on Grave Brook. Of course, Ellie insists on going along. A swan swims up beside them, topples the dinghy and pushes Jack underwater. In fact, the swan sits on Jack to make sure he stays underwater. Is this the end for Jack? What will happen to Jamie and Ellie? He wakes up in a strange land and to his surprise; Jamie and Ellie are with him. Where are they? Wet, and cold, the children are made to appear before the Gnome King where they are made to work in his hot kitchens!
One day, Jamie is told about a way to escape the cruel gnomes. The three children make a break for it that night.

Jamie, Jack and Ellie wander into a barren wasteland and soon meet the mysterious Hadi. Who is Hadi and what does he want with them? Hadi is very kind to the children but insists on taking them to the Oracle. He also says that it will be a long hard journey.

They travel for days and finally meet the Oracle. The Oracle sends them on a mission to free the Swan Princess. He says that will make everything right again.

Along the way, they meet giants, fairies, elves, flying horses and a lot more! Will Jamie, Jack, Ellie and their new friends free the Swan Princess?

Lookman leads us step by step through this magical world and is right beside us through all of Jamie, Jack and Ellie's adventures. This is a book that fantasy lovers everywhere will want to read!
