It just gets better, 12 April 2007
I've got a number of Hillsong albums-and definitely all the live projects since 2002. Mighty to Save is definitely one of the best. From the bold 'Take it all', to the worship inspiring 'Mighty to Save',it's an amazing journey. Don't forget 'From the inside out', every true believer's heart's cry. There's a song and sound for everyone in here.
Honestly, Hillsong just gets better and better. Can't wait to get the next one!!!

Everyone needs compassion: Hillsong at its Rawest & most Profound!, 26 Jan 2009
Every Sunday I have a range of Worship commitments, for which warm-up singalong songs are essential! Having tried many, I found Hillsong to be the best and, from all Hillsong, I have found this CD has the greatest passion & range.
As with most music, Hillsong have had a 'growing up' phase, where they had not yet found their sound and yet the songs are somehow more gritty & spirited. This growing up phase is reminiscent of 'Definitely Maybe' by Oasis, or 'Rubber Soul' by the Beatles - albums that aren't quite polished, but are all the better because of it.
Experimental & exotic, yet understated, the songs are varied and are strange material for a worship album. For instance, I cannot imagine songs like 4, 7 & 8 appearing on any worship albums any time soon, and yet they are fun & an off-the-wall take on most normal worship songs.
And, as its crowning glory, there is 'Mighty to Save' (which might start to bore you after 1314 listens!) I honestly can't imagine this song from a different band or time; its oddness coupled with its power are a culmination of the rest of the album.
A word on the DVD: it includes a small sermon on worship, 3 live videos (in French then Spanish then Portugese) and a promo for the DVD. The small sermon is by the famous worship pastor of Hillsong; Darlene Zschech. Although it is not very long, she seems to have that rare skill of great preachers - magnetism! I showed it to my Bible study meeting (who are normally raucous) & they were spellbound...
Before you think me purely sycophantic, there are one or two faults with this CD. For one, there are only 3 songs which are truly memetic (1,6 & 14) & the other songs are more audio pleasure than a full worship set.
Furthermore, it's annoying that the DVD is so limited & doesn't have the songs in English. Why 'Mighty to Save' is in Portugese (on the DVD), I will never know (especially when there is surely a Portugese version & they wouldn't understand the rest of the album anyway...)
To conclude then, this CD is a fantastic selection of worship songs that are potent and real. It isn't necessarily as 'Pop' as 'This is our God' but, in a way, that makes it better. So, I would thoroughly recommend this album, but only if you're either into Hillsong, or you like worship stuff. If you are just a novice, then I recommend 'Ultimate Worship' as a good starting point as it's more straightforward & accessible.
