All my life I have been fighting books that will not lay flat while reading them. I have used all sorts of clips and weights and I have wrecked a few books by trying to flatten them.

Now this gadget has proved to be the complete answer. The lower "hooks" hold open the pages of even the thickest paperbacks. To change page you just pick up the book, turn the page, then drop it back in the holder (accurate aim scarcely necessary)

Problem solved.

Also, the gadget conveniently folds flat when not in use.

The absolute best bookstand I have found. This has been an absolute lifesaver during my degree - I picked one up in a bookshop a few years back and have been desperately trying to find more ever since - so glad to see it on Amazon! This is lightweight, folds to a tiny size, can clip into an A5 or A4 ringbinder (through the metal of the base), and works very well. The angle can be changed by pulling the top of the frame up or down - this is a little fiddly but very useful.

A FANTASTIC product!

Yes, this product is slim, lightweight, easy to use and so forth, but it doesn't seem to rise to the key challenge of holding open the pages of a thick paperback (unless you choose to break the spine). Works decently enough with the hardbacks and thinner paperbacks I've tried.

I am currently using this product to read my huge, completely and ridiculously oversized biology books, paper and hardback, and am delighted with the product. Ms Blake's holder must have been faulty, because my product can certainly take a lot more than just paper. It holds back the pages but you can still turn them easily. I've tried it with smaller books, paper and hardback again and it works equally as well. My neck aches terribly when studying (perhaps because I'm a mature student!!) so this is a godsend. Thanks Mighty Bright Fold 'n' Stow bookholder!

Brilliant product. Light & folds flat, but sturdy enough for heavy books. Holds glossy magazines as well as 1000 page tombes. Pages dont jump out, but easy to turn when you want to.

I bought this on the strength of other reviews here, and I wasn't disappointed. I tested the stand's mettle against both a 600 page hardback and a 900 page paperback and it coped admirably. (My only qualifier would be that both of these books were of average page dimensions- larger books (eg ones approaching A4 page size) may be less easy to balance on the stand.) For my purposes, however, the ReaderMate is perfection.

Kudos also to the manufacturer for creating packaging which you don't have to throw away- the stand comes instead in a handy plastic envelope which can be clipped into a ring-binder.

I own two of these book stands, the first one of which has been in service for 10 years! This book holder is a must for all students! It holds and secures textbooks at an angle, which facilitates reading books greatly (also reducing neck strain simultaneously). If your book is tall, the book holder is adjustable in height. It also accepts books of various widths. The book holder can accommodate both paperbacks or hardcovers. It is also light and compact, collapsing to a very small size, which makes it great for taking it along with you to the library or favorite studying place. It will last forever too. The construction is sturdy, supporting even heavy books, and very durable, providing many, many years of service.

This product is alright. Nothing special though - I'm sure there are much stronger book holders out there. I'm a University student and as such I use this for a variety of books, including thick text books. It basically does its job, but has an annoying habit of splaying apart and being generally flimsy, causing my books to just fall off on occasion.
If you have the money, I'd invest in something sturdier.
However, if you need to go for the cheaper option like myself, it's bearable - particularly if you're using lighter books.
