5.0 out of 5 stars Neil Armstrong...he walkin on my face..., 27 Jan 2006
This review is from: The Mighty Boosh : Complete BBC Series 1 & 2 [DVD] [2004] (DVD)
If you fell in love with the first series of The Boosh then you'll be overjoyed with this DVD, but don't expect more of the same from series 2. For a start, there's no Zooniverse, which means no Bob Fossil (apart from a guest appearance) and (even worse) no Dixon Bainbridge! Instead, we find Vince and Howard living in a house with Naboo and Bollo (who is now his shamanic familiar).
The format is much more open-ended, as there's no longer any need to base the storylines around zoos and animals, and sometimes this works brilliantly, sometimes less so.

There are plenty of fantastic new characters, the evil bandit Betamax (who is entirely composed of tape), the rather disturbing hermaphrodite merman Ol Greg (don't ask), and my personal favourite The Moon.

The Mighty Boosh has to be one of the most inventive comedies of recent times, I had certainly never seen anything quite like this show and immediately became obsessed by it! This is surely an essential purchase for card carrying Boosh-heads everywhere, and also a fine starting point for anyone who maybe caught the odd episode on its unhelpfully obscure tv slot and is curious to find out what on earth was going on!

For my money, I prefer series 1 to series 2 (the songs are better in the first series as well), but there is genius material to be found throughout. The "Milky Joe" episode is absolutely inspired. And quite, quite mad.

Quite simply the greatest comedy i have ever had the pleasure to watch. In my parents era they had the comedy duo greats and have often told that my generation has nothing that compares. Well no we do. If you have never seen this and you like comedy it's a must. Quite simply the more you watch it the better it gets. If you found this helpful, great. Now im off to buy my own papous!

Monty Python, The Goodies,The Young Ones with a hint of Morecambe and Wise.Put all these elements together and you start to get an idea of what the Mighty Boosh is all about. A surreal world filled with demented characters living through insane situations.
Created by Julian Barratt and Noel Fielding ,who(along with Rich Fulcher) play most of the crazy characters, this is the type of comedy that can only be produced in Great Britain.
The first series is excellent, comprising a two disc set of the eight episodes and some short documentaries about the series which would be quite average if it wasn't for the natural humour of the cast, who obviously enjoy their work.
The second series is pure genius. It manages to retain the madness of series one whilst coming across as a more polished, better written show. This also contains some interesting, short documentaries and the usual out-takes and deleted scenes, which are nothing special, but that doesn't matter because the show is so damned good!
