This is the second Miele I've bought and this one was for my mother. It's small enough to handle up and down stairs and the the suction is first class. Indeed my mum rang to tell me she had turned down the suction power (which you can do) because it was too powerful. I've had Dysons before and though good they suck when it comes to construction, with bits falling off from their plastic fantastic design. The Miele is just streets ahead and I would recommend one to anyone
