  • ENTERTAINING HOST CHARACTER: A highly entertaining host character, voiced by Fred Willard (Best in Show, Anchorman) will guide, tutor and encourage the player throughout the game.
  • FIVE DIFFERENT CHALLENGE CATEGORIES WITH MAXIMUM REPLAY VALUE: Hot Brain features five challenging categories with hundreds of timed challenges in each that test your brain powers in logic, memory, math, language and concentration.
  • EASY-TO-USE CONTROLS: The controls are simple and intuitive, and are geared toward fast-reaction gameplay. Each potential answer to a given Challenge is mapped to a controller button, allowing even a novice PSP user to start playing immediately.
  • MULTIPLE GAME MODES: Fire up your mind with four main game modes including two multiplayer modes (Brain Race and Think Tank) and two single player modes (Test Mode and Practice).
  • Practice - Practice mode is the core of the game. The player is encouraged to practice on a regular basis, which (according to theory) will stimulate the mind and help raise the test scores.
  • Test Mode - The test mode quizzes the player in each of the five categories. The player is given a score for each category and an overall performance score. Players try to get their brain to be On Fire, the highest score they can achieve.
  • Brain Race is a competitive event in which 2-4 players are presented with a series of timed Challenges. The goal is to be the first player to raise their brain temperature.
  • Think Tank is a cooperative multiplayer event in which 2-4 players work together to solve Challenges and raise the temperature of the 3D brain onscreen until it reaches critical mass.

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
There are a lot of game-play genres to draw us in, including the obvious rpg, flying, racing, shooting, strategy & puzzling etc. etc., but this makes a welcome change to the usual gameplay on any console, and shows that Sony can take up where ground-breaking Nintendo started off. Here, the only person to beat or better is yourself (well, your brain, actually). The game isn't limited to a few categories either, what with Locic (sub-categories: sequencer, shape logic, back seat driver), Memory (scene of the crime, musical memory, pinball wizard), Maths (high & low, cruise ship, equation sensation), language (alphabet, spelling bee, picto-rhymes), and concentration (untangle, shape up, combine). The tasks start off relatively easily, but all progress to a level that will challenge everyone... and yes, it is addictive! You can even challenge family & friends in multiplayer, and (as with single player mode) you get to find out the temperature of your brain (in celcius or fahrenheit!) with nice graphics to show your progress over time also. You can take a test to check your brain power generally (going through each of the categories) or choose to practice individual areas that you are weak on. A perfect game to pass the hours with! Ideal for a long journey, or else just sat in comfort at home!
Now, no game is perfect, and this is no exception, though the negatives I point out here are really very minor indeed. Firstly, the background music is very very annoying - luckily though, you can just turn it right down, or as low as you like!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Hot Brain - stimulation 13 Feb 2008
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Great game for stimulation of the mind. Only drawback is loading time and repeating intros that you cannot skip. Never gets boring, only addictive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good buy 30 Dec 2009
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Bought it as a present for a friend's boy (10 ish), with some apprehension - will he really want this for a birthday present? As it turned out, it proved to be the right thing to buy - he absolutely loves it and is spending a lot of time on it. Purpose served. Obviously, it feels more like 'fun' than like 'learning', which says something about the quality of the game.

Impressively fast delivery from Amazon market place. Ordered on a Tuesday on free standard delivery, keeping fingers crossed for a party planned for Saturday. It got delivered on Thursday - well before I would have started worrying about it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hot Brain 6 Jan 2010
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
Good for making you think about logic, memory games are rather static, and after a period you could memorize them although they are random they do repeat after a few games. You could have competitions with you friends to see who gets the highest score, however not as interactive as it could have been.
