As your kids drive around San Francisco or London, trashing buildings, smashing up cars, and knocking anything over that they can touch, just feel grateful that they aren't doing it in *your* car! The scenery reminds me of Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Deluxe Edition (PC)
, and the sound effects and animation are good, even on XP on an ancient Pentium 4 based IBM PC.
My boys have found some websites where you can download fan-created locations and vehicles, most of which work, but some trash the installation. It does seem very "fragile", and my boys have had to re-install the software many times.
You need to leave the original CD ROM in the drive all the time for it to work, but this means you are shortening the life of the drive.
Anyway, if you want to go crazy, download the Airbus A380 (yes, an airliner can drive around in central London...) or tanks, underground (tube) trains and many others to enhance the experience. Like "Doom", this game is expandable, and the rendering engine will do lots of things that the original coders probably never expected anybody to even try? (Supermarket trolley, anybody???)
