What makes this record so special? There are for sure loads of fine Irish records that deserve a recommendation. But to experience the special magic you find in this particular record is quite rare.

I do not think I have heard a more satisfying Irish record in years. Dervish manage to give, especially the reels, a tight and forceful power and the interplay between the musicians in the band is absolutely breath-taking. "Palmer's Gate" for instance is almost hypnotical in its tremendous swing and let go atmosphere.

Summing this up I cannot imagine a better CD to convince those who are slightly luke-warm to Irish music. My advice is to pick up a copy or two right away to give to a friend before it is gone and deleted.

Goran Sodervall,

Irish jig. Open air music. Though you’re probably Ceili-ing to it in some wooden floored dance hall. Authentic Irish music, brilliant singing and playing. It sways it swings it ripples, it ups and jigs. But is it emotional? I think you need to take part in this kind of folk music, either dancing, singing, playing, or clapping-along. Not sat at a computer. ’ang on, by track five I’m beginning to catch the joy in it.
