Product Description

Review

If you are looking for more fun ways to teach Shakespeare to your children, the Shakespeare Can Be Fun series by Lois Burdett is an excellent way to introduce the playwright's many works. The author takes Shakespeare's entire works and puts them into a poetic, flowing version that is easy on children's attention spans whileleaving the crux of the works intact. It's helpful for mom and dad as well. The books also offer suggestions for lesson plans.--Tere Scott"St. Louis Homeschooling Examiner, Los Angeles edit" (06/24/2009)

I brought this book for my 10yr old daughter when her yr6 class were told that they were going to study 'Midsummer Nights Dream' as their topic. We read the book together and it really helped my daughter understand the story. She took the book to school and shared it with the class too!

Will be getting others in this series for her to enjoy - she's already asked if she can have Macbeth for Christmas!

The kid-created content in this book is great, and while I admire the effort to convert the story into a rhyme, this very long rhyme becomes tedious after the first few pages. If you are wanting an abridged script of A Midsummer Night's Dream to use with students... With the brilliance of the original when it comes to rich language and rhythm changes...This is not it!

Alternative verse that's easy for kids to get to grips with. Read this through to my 9 year old before seeing a production of RSC's Midsummer, and was WELL worth it. We loved the illustrations by the kids, too.

My grand daughter loves these as she has started to do Shakespeare at school. They are a great introduction to the Bard!

A good telling of the basic story of Shakespeare's play for a child with a part in a school production.
