5.0 out of 5 stars Great tv crime with a top notch cast 15 Jun 2008
By David TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Once again John Nettles stars in an excellent episode of Midsomer Murders. The execution for desertion of Private Tommy Hicks in the First World War starts a fued between the Hicks and the Hammonds which continues into the present day. I won't go into too much plot detail and ruin any twists for you. Needless to say it isn't long before the bodies start to pile up. There are the usual selection of bizzare suspects - all played by top notch actors. Starring John Nettles and Jason Hughes at Jones, with guest stars George Cole, Malcolm Sinclair, Samantha Bond and Donald Sinden.

The dvd is a little sparce on special features - all you get is a few written cast filmoraphies, some production notes and a biography of Caraline Graham (who writes the Midsomer Murders books). A commentary by John Nettles or some of the cast would have been nice - still you can't have everything. If you enjoy Agatha Christie style crime then this dvd is for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars ALL THIS AND SAMMANTHA BOND TOO! 21 April 2011
Shot at Dawn is one of my favorite Midsomer's,very well written by Michael Aitkens who wrote and created,Waiting For God.The story starts in WW1 with Tommy Hicks shot for desertion and goes to the modern day with a feud between the Hicks and the Hammond's which has lasted from then till now, then murders start with Col Hammond who is shot in the head execution style.Barnaby and Jones invetigate, don't want to give away to much but more murders happen,a special shout out for one of my favs,Sammantha Bond who plays Bella Hammond who isn't all their but has lots of secrets in her life involving who is the father of her two daughters and affair with the mayor of the town,so do your duty and watch, you might just like it!
