Now with Subtitles for those new to the series 22 May 2013
By Harold Wolf - Published on
This is an improved rerelease of the Midsomer Murder episodes. Now with SDH subtitles. For those who do not own them, they can be purchased in sets that come in the correct order of the UK airings. If you own previous DVDs, be sure to check that you are not duplicating. If you are new, sit back and begin to enjoy one of the best cop/crime shows ever produced in the WORLD, and it continues today (2013), 16 years running. And expect multiple murders.

TOP British crime drama, with a twist of humor and romance. And then there is the awesome footage of British village life, as spectacular as any English documentary/travel DVD. The characters are believable, and the crime solving is reasonable, although complex enough for the most avid of mystery fans. I have never watched an episode that was not a 5-star production. Speaking of stars, every British TV & film star now wants to be a guest star on this show. Guest stars began in the beginning, and are a part of what makes this such a delightful series. Prepare yourself for some very tender moments or a belly laugh. It has it all.

Tom Barnaby (John Nettle) became an icon for Murder Mystery TV fun. Episodes are based on novels of Caroline Graham. Eventually most reviews of other crime shows get around to comparing to Midsomer. It's that good.

SUBTITLES NOW INCLUDED, an update from the old releases. Midsomer episodes are 100 minutes each.

Great Blend of Elements 16 July 2014
By L. M. Keefer - Published on
I have slowly made my way through this mild mystery series - not much gore. If you like an up-to-date fairly cosy English mystery series you may want to sample Midsomer Murders. Based upon books by Caroline Graham, it follows the sleuthing of a very likable Chief Inspector Tom Barnaby (John Nettles), You get to know his wife Joyce, ( Jane Wymark) and his daughter Cully, (Laura Howard). But most of the time you follow Barnaby around to the bucolic villages and towns of central England as he finds out why seemingly perfectly normal villagers might make someone want to murder them. Most of the murders aren't too grisly, so you will sleep at night. I watch it for scenery as much as anything else. Here's the plot summary from the film company:

Death of a Stranger—When a tramp dies fleeing from fox hunters, the investigation uncovers a trail of murderous deceit.
Blue Herrings—A series of deaths at a nursing home causes the residents to suspect foul play.
Judgement Day—Midsomer Mallow has a shot at the Perfect Village title, provided it can keep a murderer at bay.
Beyond the Grave—Unearthly happenings in and around a local museum create an atmosphere of terror.

You will see Orlando Bloom in this series.

We love BBC! 1 Jan. 2014

Murder mystery done right. I have really gotten tired of the violence and graphics on American tv. The Brits have a lock on style and content. We enjoy the personable cast, and the challenge to deduce the answers as the clues are revealed.

I am a big fan of British murder mysteries and I love Midsomer Murder. John Barnaby is an interesting character that makes you want to watch more. Though I do think his wife and daughter are the most boring characters I have ever seen. There personalities are as beige as there clothes. But haveing said that, there is not that much interaction with them and the quaint village settings are a treat to the eye. The plots are suspenseful and keep you guessing till the end in most episodes.. I would recommend these and will buy more episodes.
Perhaps the BEST of the "cozy" Brit murder mysteries. 3 Sept. 2014

It's MIDSOMER MURDERS---What can I say!? I love this series, which I discovered after having seen all the Miss Marples, Poirots, and so forth, and almost despairing about where to turn next. Although I can watch the episodes streaming on my laptop, it's worth it to me to have the actual DVDs in my possession. One small problem: A couple of them have some skipping, near the beginning. I hope this doesn't increase over time. I do watch them repeatedly.

They were packaged properly and arrived within the predicted time.
